Dear Santa…

Macbook, Apple, £799

OK, I know. This is a pretty ridiculous present to ask for. They’re one pound shy of £800. £800!! However, my birthday is 30th December and although that often means I get birthday presents wrapped in slightly crumpled Christmas paper (HATE that), it also means I can combine the two to get presents that are a little bit (or in this case, bloody loads) more expensive than usual. Having divorced parents helps here, too! I plan to ask for contributions towards this absolute beauty and make up the difference with my own money. I’m telling you this from my ancient Dell that I slam shut in fury regularly. I need this.

Leopard print Converse All Star Lo, Office, £34.99

How totally awesome are these?! I love Converse sneakers – they’re just so classic. This wild print would surely put a spring in my step? I want to wear these with a girly dress, woolly tights and a floppy beret.

Friendship rings, Laura Lee, £75

I’ve left hints, I’ve given him my ring size, I’ve thrust my laptop under his nose and said ‘please buy me one of these rings’. I think he’s got it, but just in case, I’ll let him read this post when I’m done.

What do you want for Christmas?

Leather and silks

Steve Madden leather jacket, H&M tunic, Gap jeans, Primark pumps, thrifted ring, thrifted bangle, Accessorize headband

I love mixing fabrics. Denim and tweed, wool and cord, leather and silk. Although I must admit, this tunic is 100% polyester. Whoops!

I’m starting to get a little antsy about Christmas. It’s so close, and all I have is a couple of great ideas. What good is that to anyone?! Pah.

I do love Christmas, but there’s so much pressure! Your house has to look like it came from the pages of Good Housekeeping‘s December issue, you’re forced to eat Terry’s Chocolate Oranges until you literally cannot stand, and you’re expected to socialise with work colleagues OUTSIDE of working hours. For every bad bit, however, there are the fun parts. Presents, for starters. Waking up on Christmas morning in PJs covered in reindeers, Miracle on 34th Street in front of the fire, walking the dogs down snow covered streets.

You know what? I’m quite looking forward to it now… brussel sprouts and all! What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

Nice to meet you…

Primark top, Topshop cardigan, H&M skirt, H&M tights, thrifted belt, thrifted shoe boots, handmade necklace

Today I had an important client meeting. Lots of handshaking, note taking and plenty of nice to meet yous. You guys know what I wear for the everyday – jeans, relaxed dresses, t-shirts, flats. So when it comes to dressing a little smarter, I’m always looking for ways to keep it laidback.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this skirt is an absolute wardrobe essential! The high waisted pencil shape is smart, but the soft denim fabric gives it a casual touch. I teamed it with a striped cotton tee, simple cardigan and these CUTE lace up shoe boots I got for £5 from eBay the other day.

The raspberry nails didn’t last long as I wanted to try out Pink Flamingo. And look how yummy it is! I really like pink with denim… there’s something so fresh about it.

True Blood beckons… I have a serious obsession. I’ll catch up with my comments and favourite blogs soon, I promise. But right now, I’ve got a date with a very attractive vampire. Which TV programme are you into right now?

Dreams, wishes and painted nails

Barry M ‘Raspberry’ nail varnish, thrifted owl ring, bespoke silver ring, Russian doll (from actual Russia!)

Before I launch into today’s ramblings, I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to Victoria at Lily loves Lola and to all the lovely people who subscribed to my blog and left a comment. I am so touched! 🙂

Okay, dreams, wishes and painted nails. Well, the painted nails bit is taken care of at the top – this is one of my new polishes. I love Barry M for the huge range of colours, long lasting finish and cheap price! And they’re on 2 for £5 in Superdrug right now… even more excuse to stock up! This colour is a real winter classic and I just love it.

“These streets will make you feel brand new, big lights will inspire you, let’s hear it for New York”

Ever since I surreptitiously watched an episode of Sex and The City from under my duvet aged 14, I’ve been obsessed with New York. I love the pace and thrill of the city, the lights, the sound. To me, it’s always looked like the most magical place in the world. Even now, at 23, I cannot imagine a more perfect place to be. I hope at some point in my life, I’ll get to live and work there. Even if it’s just for 6 months. I think it’d be the experience of a lifetime.

In my New York fantasy, I live in a chic apartment with a stoop. I have a pug, a fabulous wardrobe and a job I love. And that leads me to my next point…

“When people go to work, they shouldn’t have to leave their hearts at home”

For all intents and purposes, I love my job. I’m a copywriter at an advertising agency… basically, I write adverts! It’s a great job – I have some fantastic clients, I get to see my writing in print, I can be creative and I get to wear whatever the hell I want! But what I really, really want, is my own column. About fashion. But not desginer fashion – fashion for the everyday. Something normal people can relate to without feeling alienated and lost. I want to advise people, make them feel good about their clothes and in turn, good about themselves. I want real girls to model the outfits I write about.

My final wish is much more superficial… I want a Chanel 2.55 handbag. Well, a girl can but dream!

What are your dreams and wishes? And what (if any) nail polish are you wearing today?

Sunday girl

Primark dress, Primark mac, River Island tights, Primark brogues, Accessorize gloves, thrifted hat, vintage scarf, Fossil bag

I love Sundays. I always seem to get so much done! Today was occupied by the following stuff:

Nail painting. I got two gorgeous new colours – Raspberry, which is so deliciously juicy it makes me want to chew off my fingers, and Pink Flamingo which I spotted on Lily Loves Lola and thought looked as sweet as candy.

Visiting the German Christmas Market in Leeds. It’s one of my favourite Christmas events – we go at least five times in the run up to Christmas for mulled wine, frankfurters, roasted nuts and cute crafts. It was SO busy so we didn’t stay long, but we’ll probably go one night after work next week.

Cupcake baking. I’m getting better… slowly. I need to invest in a better piping bag! How cute is my Cath Kidston plate?

So that was Sunday. What did you get up to?
