Sunday Smile #16

Posted in Home.

I have returned! Yes, dear readers – I survived my first adult-camping-experience-that-wasn’t-a-festival weekend! And can I tell you a secret? Whisper it now – I enjoyed myself. Even when I was woken at 6am by a frog sitting atop my head (really), I was laughing. I walked four miles in my fashion-statement workman boots, I drank lots of cider and I didn’t straighten my hair once. Take a look at our glorious surroundings…

No evening photos because we were far too busy drinking/eating/playing games to bother with the cameras.

I’m now back home with a mobile signal (the amount of emails and text messages that came through as we drove out of our little black hole was ridiculous!), Red magazine and the latest catalogue from Cath Kidston and the second half of Dexter season 2 to watch.

My time in the countryside was blissful, but I’ll always be a city girl at heart. What did you get up to this weekend? Were you home or away? Any boot sale bargains to report? Tell all, please!

a frog sitting on top of your head? oh my, hehe. it sounds like you had a wonderful time camping, i’d love to go! the last time i went camping was with my cousins in my uncle’s back garden, i had so much fun. no pictures of you? i’d love to see your camping attire 🙂 i went to my local car boot sale today, first time in months! i picked up a lovely pair of unworn vintage st michael brogues for four pounds. first time i’ve ever bought secondhand shoes, i’m a size three and it’s just so difficult to find them in my size, so i’m very happy 🙂 ohh new cath kidton mag? i must order mine!

love, jazzabelle. xxx

Fab pics 🙂 Sounds like you had a lovely weekend away. Sometimes it’s really nice not to have any phone signal/emails and just escape the real world for a while. x

Ooh it looks like you had an amazing time! I can’t believe you had a frog on top of your head, though – I hiked up a mountain in Nepal when I was 13 and luckily had no amphibian or insect incidents! (However, it was horrible not to be able to have a shower for 5 days)

It must have been a relief to get some fresh air and ‘disconnect’ from everything!

Sounds lovely! Where did you go? It looks gorgeous. My boyfriend’s brother has been talking about going camping in Newquay on the bank holiday weekend – I’m not so sure though, as I’ve never been camping..but after reading/seeing your photos, I’m thinking I might like it after all!
Also, I notice you have a blackberry – I’m thinking about getting one, as o2 have just introduced it on pay and go [used to be on contract but find pay and go is cheaper for me!] – how have you found the blackberry? I just need a better phone which is good for emails etc!

The house in the first picture is gorgeous, if that were a B&B that would be the perfect place to stay! (I like being somewhere different with countryside nearby, just not camping!)

Nothing exciting to report here. I carried on my project of taking pictures of my bike next to the toad sculptures that are currently hanging out in Hull, that’s about it.

Looks like you had a great time – I cannot believe you woke up with a frog on your head! That is such a great anecdote to tell on camping trips to come…

Glad you enjoyed it, I’ve got my first camping experience coming up this week (with a festival at the end of it)

I went camping with my boyfriend and his brothers and sisters about 3 years ago in Newquay, looking back I don’t know how I coped without my straighteners! Haha. It is lovely to get out in the countryside though, but I always miss my home conveniences of the town.

I’ve only ever been festival camping but it so much fun I think I would do non festival camping too. What does your hair look like without straighteners? We much see, I’m sure it’s lovely x

Sounds lovely – I adore camping (except when it rains and there’s nothing to do hah!)

I bought a cameo brooch for 50p, had a top I wanted snatched off me by a little Chinese lady, and watched my dream bad sail away with the highest bidder… Better luck next week, I hope!

HAHA!! A frog? A proper green slimy frog?? No way!

Sounds a lovely weekend with friends though.

I love the country, but hate it when the signal is crap, I can’t buy Instyle and public transport is rubbish. I want both worlds.

Well I’ve had frogs under the tents before (a little colony of them appeared when we were taking the tent down after one particularly wet camp) but never inside and definitely not on my head! Did someone put it there as a joke?

Isn’t Dexter amazing? Series 3 is just phenomenal – I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through!

Dull weekend in my house – lots of ebay parcelling up and 6 hours of ironing, plus a huge row in the sofa shop about whether cushions were too big. My life is odd sometimes.

Jen you’ll be proud – I had an epic charity shop win this weekend.

I had a wander round my new neighbourhood and bought a gorgeous deep blue dress and blue/gold flower A line skirt (both Topshop), a blue jersey waistcoat, brown crochet shrug, red and white polka dot kaftan, a straw beach bag and a cheeseboard…

…all for less than £20!

I do love the great outdoors – it goes with the geology, I guess – so I’m really glad you enjoyed yourself!

Hello Jen!! A frog on your head?! Blimey, what a rude awakening. Where were you? It looks idylic. I’m a bit scared to venture too far from shops and stuff and shamefully admit my encounters with the great outdoors are like yours, festivals and car boot sales.
Wild hair, sensible shoes and being slap-free sound very liberating, glad you had fun. xxx
