Sunday Smile #25

Posted in Second Hand Shopping.

Happy Sunday gang! Today I’m jumping on the fashion blogger bandwagon and giving you a haul post… second hand style! Here are some of my thrifty finds from the last few weeks – my favourite car boot has closed for winter (boo) but I’ve found a new (indoor!) one to explore every Sunday, and of course the charity shops are still bursting with unloved garments looking for a new home.

I picked up this Wallis dress coat at a car boot sale for £2. It’s 100% wool and perfect for throwing over fancy dresses on chilly nights out. It needs a dry clean and a new button, but other than that it’s pristine.

You’ve seen this one before but it was such a good find, I thought it deserved another showing. A faux fur coat for £7.99 from my favourite charity shop? Yes please.

I know, I know… another jacket? I simply couldn’t resist this vintage Episode number, with it’s square necklace and cropped shape. It was £5 from – where else? – my favourite charity shop.

I snapped this cute Topshop blouse up yesterday – it’s another charity shop find and was £3. I love the Peter Pan collar and dainty buttons.

My first trip to the indoor car boot sale uncovered this dapper felt trilby. It was made by Lincoln Bennett & Co, hatters to the Royal Family based in Piccadilly, London. A snip at £2.

My favourite find of all is this beautiful dressing table set. The wonderful Vix tells me it’s probably from the 1950s – sets like these were often given as 21st birthday presents. It’s perfectly preserved in its satin box, each pretty piece unused. I paid £1 for it from a lovely old couple and actually asked if they wanted a bit more, but they were insistent I should take it.

I’ve been very lucky with my finds over the last few weeks. Have you unearthed any treasures on your travels?

This is a bandwagon I most definitely need to jump on. Such incredible bargains! I need to venture north a bit and check out some charity shops. My favourite is that faux fur number! x

Where do you find such incredible bargains?! There are no good charity shops near me (they’re all filled with MY old clothes!) and I’m desperate to make some vintage finds!

Fabulous post, Jen! I love all your finds. The Wallis coat is my favourite because I can just imagine how dramatic it is going to look on you.
The fun thing about second-hand shopping is that you never know what you are going to find, sometimes nothing, sometimes lots but it’s always ecclectic and random. xxx

wow, those are some incredible finds! I especially love the dress coat. I wish my area would cotton on to car boot sales, jumble sales, or even decently priced charity shops.

Love the faux fur coat; this post has inspired me to hit the car boot sales when I’m back in London next week. I love the knock down pricing and am hoping to find a few wintery bits. The hat is gorge too.

Oh gosh the dressing table set is stunning! What an absolute amazing find, and for it all to be in perfect condition. A real treasure.

Such wonderful finds- the Wallis coat is equally as stunning, and such an investment. xx
