Weekly Write Up

Posted in Daily Outfits.

Why, hello there. So nice of you to stop by. I hope you’ve had a wonderful week? It’s been a bit of a quiet one at Little Bird HQ – it’s that early-February lull before Fashion Week kicks off – although one very exciting thing did happen this week… we got a house! If you’ve been reading the blog for a while you’ll know we’ve had two near misses with houses recently, but it really is third time lucky and we move into our new place (complete with solid oak doors, exposed beams and wood burning stove) on 5th March. I’ll be kicking off the Second Hand Home challenge (furnishing the place with charity shop, car boot and vintage shop bargains) as soon as we move in.

Here’s what else I’ve been up to this week…

I’m finding these chino-style trousers a little hard to pull off – any tips?
Missguided tee, Topshop cardigan, F+F trousers, Primark pumps, GOGO PHILIP necklace, Mango ring

One of my favourite 30 for 30 outfits so far
Topshop scalloped edge vest, Topshop jeans, Topshop blazer via charity shop, Matalan bag, Zara scarf, Primark brogues, Stolen Thunder necklace

Valentine’s Day isn’t something Rob and I really celebrate – we do nice things for each other all year round, why save it for just one day? We couldn’t resist the V Day special M&S meal though – mozzarella and tomato tartlets, sirloin steak with chunky chips, chocolate and raspberry puddings, a bottle of Cava and a box of chocolate. Delicious.

Tell me – what have you been up to this week? Are you celebrating Valentine’s Day or dismissing it as a Hallmark Holiday (like me)?

PS – I’ve listed half my wardrobe on eBay – anything you fancy?

Love both outfit, I think the chinos looks great here but you could always trying them with a long your leather jacket to toughen the look up. I’d wear them with some bright socks and brown brogues and a fitted top just to add a bit of colour. The second outfit is fab, I have a couple of those tops and think they’re so cute! Love the pictures of Leeds too, the Corn Exchange one is lovely. I’ve never really celebrated V day with my boyfriend cos as with you and Rob we always did nice things etc but I did love writing him a card and doing a nicer than usual home cooked meal. Your M&S feast sounds amazing!!!!

SO not doing anything for Valentine’s Day. We never do. Last night I went out with a friend and our husband’s watched her children. Tonight we have my friend and my sister in law coming over for dinner. Tomorrow will be a normal Monday with the added stress of the husband having an observation on Tues (he’s an NQT). I really love the top outfit. Chinos are hard to wear – maybe you could try with top loose & with your haircut it’ll be very Audrey Hepburn.

Chinos? No. Too preppy. I think your instinct is right and these are not your best-ever buy. The jeans are great though.

I love the idea of chinos, but I just don’t seem to suit many trouser shapes except skinny, damn my stumpy legs!
I need some new skinny jeans, seeing yours makes me realise my holey, baggy knee’d, mis-shapen ones need replacing.
As for valentines, We don’t celebrate it, but I now work in Hotel Chocolat, and have been surrounded by heart shaped chocs for the best part of a month now, it’s safe to say I’m over valentines before it’s even come around!

Excellent news about the house Jen! Can’t wait to see some pics of all your new householdy purchases.

If I’m entirely honest, I don’t like the chinos much. I think they look ok on v.tall & thin people but for those of us with curves they’re not ideal. You look bloody gorgeous in outfit 11 though – those jeans are a lovely fit.

Great news on the house front! Banish the Ikea and embrace the way of the skip, I say.
As always I love the jeans on you. The chinos would look brilliant taken up about four inches and worn with a strong colour like red. xxx

It’s brilliant that you managed to get the house sorted, and it’s going to be wonderful having carte blanche over what to buy for it. I look forward to reading about your Second Hand Home Challenge.

My bf and I are separated by countries this year, so a Valentine’s Day skype is the order of the day. Spending the actual evening with a friend- cheap fizz and Perugina Baci Chocolates, just like my single days! I think it’s a bit over-hyped myself and I’m not bothered that I’m not with my boy. He’s good to me all year round anyway. x

P.S. I too really like outfit 11/30- it’s understated and I’m liking the scalloped vest, esp the colour. I love the colour palette of all your outfits at the moment actually x

Try rolling the hems up of the chinos? Never worn them myself so not much help :/

I am a v day supporter.. completley get why people don’t do it, but being an utter romantic any excuse to have flowers and chocs thrust in my face will do. Not sure the boy feels the same.

Congrats on getting the house! I can’t wait for the styling tips from you! 🙂 We’re just staying in and baking mince pies (that’s right!- we weren’t together for xmas, so never got around enjoying them together so we thought we might just as well for vday! 🙂 It should be super nice! 🙂

Congrats on your house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a pair of pants with a weird cross over crotch like that, I ended up shoving them in the back of the wardrobe, it just looked to odd, may be try them with a top over the crotch part. You seem to be working them well though x

Congratulations on the house! I’m currently on the look out for a nice place to rent with my boyfriend and I’m excited, so I can’t imagine how excited you must be.

Hallmark Holiday, though I did buy my boyfriend a heart shaped cheese. I’ll be cooking our favourite tea tonight, but it won’t be a romantic occasion as we’ve invited his sister. She recently broke up with her fiancé.

A fitted denim shirt would look great with those chinos.
Much like you OH and I try to do nice tihngs throughout the year but we do exchange handmade cards each year. Last year I did buy him a packet of Love Hearts but they left a bitter taste in his mouth, which wasn’t the sentiment I was aiming for!
