Project Take 10 Challenge 10 – Peacocks

Posted in Daily Outfits.

Us Take 10 ladies are no strangers to Peacocks. They sponsored challenge 3 with a dress from their Pearl Lowe range, and now they’re back for challenge 9. With another dress! They know the way to a girl’s heart.

Peacocks by Design Spotty Prom Dress, H&M chambray shirt, New Look wedges, wicker bag via car boot sale

This pretty pleated prom dress is from the new Peacocks by Design range and costs £35. I was unsure at first – my ghostly palor isn’t best suited to this coffee creme colour. But I really couldn’t resist the pleated skirt. So swishy! A quick denim fix and some chunky wedges soon sorted me out – I went for a 50s housewife vibe. Very Betty Draper, I feel.

Looking lovely, ladies!

So, how did I do? Would you style the dress differently?

Ooh GORGEOUS! I’ve been on the hunt for a proper 50’s style shirt dress for a while now but it takes looking at a blog to make me realise how simple the answer is – whack a shirt over the top of a dress I already own. Honestly, I’m such a dope sometimes.

Love the accessories too 🙂

I agree–it does have a slight housewife vibe. But who doesn’t love Mad Men? I love how you paired it with the blue shirt too–very chic!

Ahh Jen, I really struggled for shoes to match and in the end went barefoot, but those shoes you have are perfect! They’re such a good match. Love the denim with it too 🙂 x

I love the addition of the denim, and that gorgeous handbag – it gives the dress a fantastic rockabilly edge which I really like!

Ooh, love how we both used the word swishy to describe the skirt part! It does feel lovely on, doesn’t it. xx

The skirt is nice and swishy. I don’t want to come off rude but I’m not overly keen on it with the shirt like that or with the shoes. Maybe if it was unbuttoned a bit further it might work. Something’s not working for me though. On a more positive note, cracking legs and I do like the colours together! 🙂

Very 50s housewife! I love this outfit, it really suits you! I never think to layer tops over dresses but after seeing yours and MJs outfits with this dress I think I’m going to go and experiment..

The wedges suit this dress perfectly!
I loved Ellie’s take on the dress, but it’s great to see it worn so differently.
