After my time at London Fashion Week and The Look Show, I came home with a notebook full of inspiration for my Autumn/Winter wardrobe. All this week I’ll be creating looks based on the AW11 trends, using pieces from my wardrobe and a few key purchases.
Swinging Sixties
There was a definite 60s vibe in the AW11 collections. Models trotted down the catwalk in short skirts Twiggy would be proud of, wearing floppy hats and cable knits with tapered trousers and pussybow blouses.
The 60s is all about feminine prints and flattering shapes – the look is cute and kooky without being twee, so swap your brogues for ballerina flats!
Oasis dress, Next trench coat, flats c/o Sarenza, H&M belt, ring and tights, Cambridge satchel, name necklace, vintage silk scarf
I bought this knitted Missoni-style dress in the Oasis sale for £10. It’s a clingy, stretchy style that’s very unforgiving after a big Pret lunch (as I discovered today), but some artful belting soon sorts that. I wore it with a classic cream trench, thick autumnal tights and cute ballet flats with bow details. I originally wanted the silk scarf in my hair, but the risk of looking like an extra from Mad Men was too much so I threaded it through the belt loops on my coat, instead.
What do you think – will you be joining me in the Swinging Sixties? Or did you prefer yesterday’s animalistic look?
Oh I much prefer this one – you know how much I dislike animal print! I have a v. similar dress from M&S from a few years in monochrome shades but it’s too big now 🙁
I love the the 60s trend, this knitted dress is gorgeous, such lovely colours! 🙂

LOVE this outfit! I like animal print to an extent, but it can die a death after a while. The swingin’ sixties does it for me! Xo
I love the colours in this outfit, seem so perfect for the Autumn!

I think today’s outfit clinches it for me! Love the 60’s look, so stylish! x
The 60s look is such a glamorous one.
I love your dress. I am sure the scarf would have looks great in your hair.

The dress is quite missoni, Love the pattern in those tights too!

I love the satchel with it – who knew that a yellow bag would go with so many outfits?! (well, you did, obvs…)
Red tights that’s what I need!! And wow that outfit is so definitely 60s but it looks good. Very nice!

I prefer the swinging 60s look also, although you could combine the 2 I think as leopard print is very 60s to me!
I love these Missoni style dresses…it looks so becoming on you. And those tights are amazing!

Loving the 60’s look! Much more me… lovely dress x
LOVE, the dress is especially fab.
That outfit is perfect! Love it! That dress is fantastic x
i do like the 60s for styles, but i’m not sure they are very ‘me’! i’m not really sure how well short and clingy straight cuts suit me, so i think it’s a style i’ll watch, not wear.
This dress is fab for winter and what a bargain!
Love it! I think the scarf through the belt loops is a brilliant idea!
I don’t think I could do the print but I love the flats and satchel.
xx
