As Inspired By… London’s Ladies

Posted in Daily Outfits, Fashion.

Over the last few months I’ve spent a lot of time in London. I’ve already written about the inspiration I get from the city itself, but for sartorial stimulus I look to London’s ladies.

At London Fashion Week, I saw an outfit that really stuck in my head. A short leather skirt, oversized chunky knit, platform boots and bright lips. Such a simple look, but one that worked so well the street style photographers were falling over themselves to snap a shot. I’ve been searching for the perfect jumper to recreate the look, and I finally found it in Zara.

Metallic elbow patches? Yes please. I love the snugly, cosy jumper with the slightly slutty (sans tights, at least) leather skirt and fierce boots. If I wanted to be all fashion douchebag about it, I’d describe it as a juxtaposition of femininity and androgyny.

I’m heading to London again tomorrow and can’t wait to while away a few hours with some people watching, gathering inspiration for my wardrobe back up North.

Who or what is inspiring you today?

Please may I?

Great look, loving the jumper. I have a few chunky knits that I am going to cheat with this year and just add elbow patches. (should save a few pennies at least!)

I agree, this is a very simple yet absolutely inspirational outfit. You look fantastic.
It’s also quite versatile- I reckon it’d take on a new identity with a darker, gothic lip (Revlon Black Cherry, maybe?) and some Doc Martens (I know, I’m a sartorial heathen).
I’d definitely try this out, but I’m a bit worried how big my arse would look in leather..

I have a leather skirt similar to this, and I also love how it looks with some chunky knitwear. Such an easy, comfortable look x

Cute! I’m a fool for anything with elbow patches!
Love the soft knit with the harder leather.

Love the jumper – definitely need to buy a couple of cosy knits for the impending freeze we are bound to have soon! Nice inspiration for me as well as I have a leather skirt I haven’t go round to wearing yet!

Metallic elbow patches?! Amazing!! Higher necklines don’t tend to work that well on me, but Zara are a good quality so I can sometimes get away with it. Fingers crossed I can manage this time, I NEED sparkly elbows in my life!!
