What I Wore – Maine

After 12 awesome days in America, Rob and I are heading home. I am devastated. Our time here has been more than fantastic and I’m already planning my next trip. I love the USA!

We arrived in Maine on Saturday morning after driving up from Boston. Our first stop with the family was Shaw’s Fish and Lobster Wharf, which sits right on the Atlantic Ocean. Lobster in Maine is a million miles away from what we get in the UK – so fresh and sweet and eaten, as it should be, right from the shell. When we’d finished eating, we visited this scenic spot on the coast – the dramatic rocks and shallow pools were clearly a hit with me (and this arms-in-the-air pose seems to be my new ‘thing’).

Day Two

The weather in Maine was just beautiful – hot, sunny days and warm evenings with the most magnificent sunsets. Rob’s aunt has a house on the lake so on Sunday, we headed over for a cook-out (American BBQ-style food and DELICIOUS) and a ride on the water.

Earlier in the day we’d been to Freeport, an outlet village similar to Bicester in the UK but with much better prices (gotta love that exchange rate!). I bought this J.Crew army jacket along with a few other bits which I managed to stuff into my already-overweight suitcase. I have to give a shout-out to the lovely Jen Walters for taking me over to Freeport – she reads the blog and knows I love my clothes, so it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon! Thanks Jen.

Rob and I are now on a bus (with free WiFi, bottled water and pretzels, movies and music and a bathroom with a door that does NOT swing open on every corner and does NOT smell like the place animals go to die – take note, MegaBus) heading to Boston Logan airport where we’ll be flying home to the UK. I’m looking forward to getting back into my routine and having full use of my wardrobe again (and seeing Travis the cat) but man, I’ll miss America. Until next time!
