It’s been a while since our last Take 10 Challenge, but we’re back and challenge 22 is a real treat.
I’ve expressed my love for Uniqlo before – their jeans fit beautifully, their free altering service is fab and their fine knit cardis are my favourites. So I was delighted when they got in touch with a special Take 10 challenge.
2012 is a big year for Britain – the Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics, this end-of-days weather we’re currently enjoying – and Uniqlo are celebrating with a range of collections designed in collaboration with some of Britain’s most prominent fashion designers. Lulu Guinness, Orla Kiely and Laura Ashley have contributed their iconic designs, so Uniqlo asked us to choose a t-shirt from one of the three designers and style it up with a Best of British twist. Exciting!

I chose a design by Lulu Guinness – I love this cute kitty tee, it reminds me of Charlotte Olympia (another great British designer) and her kitty heels. When I think of iconic British style, I immediately go Alexa Chung – say what you will about Alexa, but her relaxed, slightly undone way of wearing clothes has influenced the way many of us dress.
I wanted to capture that cool, vintage style in my outfit, so I went for a simple jersey skirt, the essential cropped leather jacket, ballerina flats and a vintage pearl collar. To really amp up the English Gentleman factor, I added a bowler hat and a leather satchel. Tally ho!
Uniqlo also asked us to create a Pinterest board to share the inspiration behind our Best of British outfits. You can see mine here – you’ll notice lots of rainy day shots, which was my original idea based on the glorious British Summertime… but then the weather decided to behave and we’ve had sunshine for the last few days! Typical.

How cool! I love your Lulu top! When I think about British style, I think of Burberry trenchcoats, umbrellas, Hunters and Mulberry bags! Very cliche, I know, but that’s literally what I see in my head!
