Another Charity Shop Dress

Posted in Daily Outfits.

Planning a wedding is HARD. Guest lists are hard, choosing bridesmaids’ dresses that don’t look like bridesmaids’ dresses is hard, creating a budget you can actually stick to when you’re entertaining 150 people is hard. I’ve found myself seeking refuge from spreadsheets (my hatred for Excel is widely documented on Twitter) in my local charity shops, which helps with two things – a quick rummage through the rails gives me something other than chair covers to think about, and if I do find something lovely, I can actually buy it because it’s cheap. I’m on a bit of a shopping ban from now until September 2013 (argh) so these small purchases have really helped.

The latest is this monochrome dress – originally from Zara but picked up for £3.99 at St. Gemma’s Hospice.

Dress, Zara via charity shop | Jacket, ASOS | Ballerina flats, c/o Sarenza | Bracelets, Forever 21 and H&M | Bag, c/o knomo

The dress is a bit of a drop-waisted, shapeless affair which I’d never usually go for but I loved the cute collar and geometric print so bought it to try… and surprisingly, I really like it!

I’m carrying my new bag which was kindly sent to me by the team at knomo. I bought my first knomo after a recommendation from Bangs who replied to my plea for a beautiful yet functional bag for my MacBook, and have loved the brand ever since. I’ll be writing a full post on this baby soon but safe to say it’s the new love of my life.

Can I marry a handbag? *muses*

Shopping bans are so difficult to stick to – charity shops and sale rails really are heaven sent when you’re trying to tighten your belt a little on the treats! 🙂

Gorgeous knomo bag, I’m about to invest in a MacBook Pro after 6 years loyal service from my white Macbook and I’ll be keeping an eye peeled for a good bag – thank you for the tip!

Ohhh, so jealous of your Pro! I have an Air and I love it. Macs are the best.

Would definitely recommend knomo – their bags are amazing quality and look gorgeous too, unlike so many laptop bags! They’re also often stocked in TK Maxx if you want a bargain. Happy shopping! 🙂 x

Love this dress, what a bargain! I need to get back into looking at charity shops, there aren’t many in central London but its worth the journey for some bargains without the shopping guilt. x

Oooh what a fabulous charity find! That dress looks gorgeous on you, and I love the cute shoes. Whit Woo to you!
Have you gone down the Monsoon route for bridesmaid dresses? The dresses from the main collections are gorgeous and not bridesmaid-y, but still look classy. I was a bridesmaid wearing a monsoon dress last year, and the bride had bought them in the back end of the sale, so they were cheap, but nice, plus she got someone to customise them with buttons too match her theme. Just an idea? xx
