The Great Big Wardrobe Switchover

Posted in Daily Outfits, Fashion.

Over the weekend I completed the most joyous of fashion tasks – I packed away all my summer clothes (most of which I didn’t even get to wear… thanks, Mother Nature) and dug out my chunky knits, cord skirts and wool dresses. Winter is coming, Game of Thrones fans.

Unpacking clothes you haven’t seen for months is basically just ‘no-spend shopping’ (the BEST kind of shopping) – everything seems new and your debit card remains safely in your purse. I’d completely forgotten about this dress and the Zara gilet – both sale purchases earlier this year – so wearing them again is like wearing a brand new outfit.

I’m far more comfortable in the rich, dark hues of autumn/winter fashion – give me rusty red over pretty pink any day. Cold weather clothing, with its careful structure and thicker fabric, seems to suit my figure more than your average strappy sundress. And as soon as October rolls around, my bottle of Garnier Summer Body goes back in the bathroom cabinet as I embrace pale skin (and 120 deniers) for another 6 months.

Winter is coming. Hooray!

Have you unpacked your cosiest cardis yet?

I adore this entire outfit! exactly my style, love it 😀 Bit of a strange question but have you got any recommendations for a great pair of tights? I struggle to find decent tights I love. I thought I found them in the M&S velvet style but they seem to have changed them and new pairs bunch of at my ankles >_<

Thanks Christina! For tights, I like Topshop, H&M and if I’m feeling flashing, Falke. Hope that helps 🙂

Love this outfit. I hate winter but did get quite excited getting my winter clothes out and discovering things that I’d forgotten I even owned! I have a feeling I will get a lot more wear out of my winter clothes than I did out of my summer ones this year…x

Love the whole Autumnal palette here, all the layering looks so cosy! It always feels amazing unpacking winter clothes. My big thing is coats and jumpers, I know it’s A/W season when I can start wearing them everyday 🙂 xoxo

I went mad a couple of months back and bought a ton of jumpers, just as the sun made an appearance.
Can’t wait to get back into tights and jumpers – and no doubt moan about missing the sun for the next 6 months. 🙂
Love the necklace, and those shoes!!

I never put them away! I dislike summer so much, even if I can’t wear my favourite knits I can look at them and remind myself that it will all be over soon, haha. x

Right, it’s officially on my list-of-things-to-do this weekend to change my wardrobe over – I thought it might be too early but summer is definitely dead and gone now isn’t it!

You look fab in these colours Jen, and you have a great eye for layering 🙂

I’ve just travelled home at the weekend to do the swapover- I desperately needed my coats! I’m always more excited when its winter, I love tights and cardigans and all the layering possibilities.

Gorgeous color palette! I also switched out my summer clothes last weekend. Although it was 80 yesterday here in NYC so perhaps I was too early. But agree that it’s like shopping your closet because you forget what clothes you tucked away months ago.

P.S. Love the GoT reference 😉

I think this outfit looks a bit ridiculous. But I supposed. Boundries have to be pushed, and
I like all the other outfits I’ve seen on this blog.
