Back in Black Leather

Usually I can be counted on to whip out my winter wardrobe from September 1st. But this year I clung on to summer, willing good weather to stick around for my wedding day on the 21st. Thursday it rained. Friday was freezing. Saturday was just perfect – warm and sunny with a light breeze and a glorious sunset. No need for that Kate Middleton-esque angora shrug I spent a whole day searching for, then.

After the wedding we plunged straight into 30-degree days in Santorini and by the time my feet finally touched home ground, I hadn’t seen a jacket or pair of tights for what seemed like forever. And I missed them dearly.

As a winter baby and huge fan of autumn, you can imagine my delight, then, when a cold snap arrived this week. Yeah, yeah – I know we all love the sunshine. But it’s a special day when you can finally retrieve your favourite heavy leather biker from the back of the wardrobe and wear it with bundled-up pride. Hooray!

I bought this jacket for £100 in TK Maxx a few years ago – at the time it felt like SUCH a lot of money for a jacket but it remains one of my favourite purchases and I’m always happy when the weather turns so I can wear it again.

Do you have something in your wardrobe you love pulling out for autumn?

Love this outfit. You always look so chic and stylish Jen! Such a style inspiration. I feel like i’m in an awkward jacket phase at the moment, lots of cardigans and two coats but no jackets! I find it hard to find ones that fit right.

I always love digging around in my wardrobe to find my trusty wooly scarves and hats. I don’t have a heavy biker jacket at the moment, I only have a lighter summer one, it’s definitely something worth investing in though!

Glad the weather was good for your wedding Jen! I love dressing for autumn/winter too – there’s something very comforting in a lot of lovely layers. Your shoes are particularly fab – they look just the right height to walk about in xx

Such a lovely elegant outfit! I love digging out a pair of Nine West sheepskin lined boots I picked up in a US outlet a couple of years ago. Ridiculously comfortable although not at all glamorous!!

Love your outfit, very elegant! Winter is my favourite season with autumn a very close second. I love digging out my sheepskin-lined Nine West boots I picked up in an outlet in the US a couple of years ago. Certainly not glamorous but very comfortable! 🙂

Gorgeous, love those shoes!
I have worn my battered leather jacket to death, and just invested in a new winter coat. Bring on the cold!

I’ve just bought a leather jacket after lusting after them for ages, then procrastinating because of the expense, then deciding the investment made sense because you’ll wear it year after year, as you have found.

Also – awesome shoes.

Hi Jen, welcome back! I really like the shape of your biker, I’m on the look out for my first biker jacket at the moment, I want one that’s not too bulky.I love the splashes of pumpkin orange that you have injected into your outfit, it’s my favourite shellac colour 😀
