From Autumn to Winter

With the nature of the weather here in the UK, it’s difficult to have a truly seasonal wardrobe. You often find yourself wearing a light autumn jacket in the height of summer, or digging out the flip flops mid-October. Many items in my wardrobe can serve through a typical British summer (that’ll be rain, grey skies and three days of sunshine, then), a blustery autumn and a sub-zero winter. And with a few minor adjustments, this leopard print wrap dress is one of those temperature multi-taskers.

I last wore it with bare legs, a cropped jacket and ankle boots here – a lovely autumnal outfit, but one that’s easy to recreate for the colder months.

This floaty chiffon dress is perfect for sunny days but the key to dressing it for colder ones is layers. Here I’m wearing a long sleeved tee, a cotton cardigan and thick tights. Sturdy leather boots and a chunky, woolly scarf finish the look and keep me cosy.

Sadly there’s nothing I can do to stop my hair looking terrible when the wind blows… any ideas?!

How do you wear your warm weather pieces through winter?

You’re right – it’s so difficult to dress seasonably sometimes… I often see tips saying you should pack your summer clothes away in winter and vica versa, to give yourself more room, but that would be pointless for most Brits! I don’t really have a ‘seasonal’ wardrobe at all…

Dressing seasonably is extremely hard, i usually end up dressing for fashion, not season haha! You look lovely in this! Your scarf is lovely, cute little dress too xx

I think the worst part for me about this British weather is swapping tights for jeans or leggings, leggings tend to make my legs look extra chunky especially when worn with skirts & jeans are just so difficult to buy as a short but curvy lady.

Enough about me, I love your outfit! You have such great taste, would definitely wear everything you have on 🙂 Would probably add a cute slouchy crochet hat to hide hair from evil blustery winds.

I’m ad at dressing well for the weather. Especially as my coat makes me too hot or I end up wearing too little and am extremely cold! Need some sort of in between jacket!

We have very similar styles when it comes to winter dressing, I love layering and find I adapt a lot of my dresses and summer stuff to fit the cold weather. And as for hair? It’s hats all the way. 🙂 xx

Super cosy, fantastic :). I just need tights tights tights to keep my spring wardrobe working through the winter. And an M&S granny slip to stop the light fabric sticking to the tights!

My autumn/winter wardrobe tends to be spring/summer wardrobe + tights, boots and knits = winter wardrobe!

Love those boots and jackets too…. when it comes to seasonal hair, wack some product on, go out into an arctic-type blast and you’ll end up with effortlessly styled hair (the more mussed-up the better!) That’s what I tell myself after my daily commute and I have a massive frizz fro 😉

you are right we mostly have similar styles and when winter comes we don’t think what we wear that looks good on our body your idea is very good thanks.

The trick to working any new seasons trends is to focus on buying a few key pieces and integrating them into your basics wardrobe. Going all out on a fashion can make you look like you’re trying too hard and can create a contrived look that looks more like costume than fashion.
