Sunday Smile #12

Posted in Home, Second Hand Shopping.

It’s blustery and cool here in Leeds today – feels like autumn, my favourite season. My regular car boot jaunt was a bit of a logistical nightmare, with clothes rails taking on a life of their own and all manner of second hand goodies flying about with wild abandon. A fair few bargains came my way, naturally!

I’ve also given the flat a thorough cleaning, put fresh flowers in my new glass jug and hung my washing out to dry. It’s the little things, right? Here’s what else is making me smile today…

A friend of ours is due to give birth to a baby boy any day now. We popped into Cath Kidston and picked up this adorable cot bumper and cushion in the sale. The vintage cowboy print is perfect for a little guy.

How fab is this print?! Plucked from the clearance section in TK Maxx – a favourite for homeware – and hanging in our bedroom, all for just £8.

Now, I think I’ve mentioned by secondhand shoe frustrations before. I can never find a pair to fit my size 8 hooves. Well, years of size 4 disappointment is now forgotten – how much do these suede platform heels from Topshop rock?! They fit my feet perfectly and are surprisingly comfortable. I’d guess they cost between £70-£100 new, but I snagged them for just £6.

I spotted this darling lace cropped tee on a stall run by three Australians at this morning’s car boot. They had piles and piles of clothing, prompting the bargain hunters of North Leeds to drop to their knees for a good old rummage. Everything was £1, and some were coming away with armfuls. Bet the Aussies were most pleased!

I’ve been looking for a denim jacket for ages. I found the perfect style in Primark a few months ago, but I’m really trying to curb my Primark habit so I decided to keep my eyes open on my thrifty travels instead. This Levi’s jacket is just about big enough and the Americana badges just add to its vintage appeal.

Definitely my favourite find of the weekend – doesn’t the print on this Topshop weekend bag look rather like an Orla Kiely design? Such a cute, 60s vibe, and perfect for adventures.

These Sunday Smiles seem to be following a pattern – clearly, shopping makes me happy! Oh well. What else is new? 🙂

What’s making you smile today? Any bargains of your own to share? Or maybe you’ve been living it up in the sunshine this weekend? Tell me everything.

PS – Don’t forget, I need your photos for this week’s Wardrobe Wonderingsemail me two clear, full length photos of you dressing up AND dressing down an outfit, along with a link to your blog and you’ll feature on Wardrobe Wonderings – the results!

OHMYGOD i love you Jen, i’ve been wanting that cowboy set for my baby, am finding out the sex tomorrow so if its a boy i’m off to Cath Kidston! x

Oooo, I’m with you on the shoes! So pretty, what a lucky find:)

Most of my sunday smiles have to do with shopping too!

You have such a good eye for car boot shopping! Do you get there super early? I *must* go the sunday after next payday! xx

Vintage Vixen

Those shoes are just fabulous and so you!
I love the Cath Kidston cowboy print, there’s a teepee I convert each year at the Big Chill in the same print.
I adore the sign, the typeface is so gloriously hippified. I feel a trip to the hellhole that is Walsall’s TK Maxx on the cards!

I saw those exact shoe today at a car boot but they weren’t my size, i was gutted, well done, they are fab!! Lovin that bag too!!

I must confess, my boys (aged 15, 14, 10, ) have Cath kidston cowboys all over their bedroom, the main reason they don’t take their friend in their rooms lol. Her prints are just to be worshipped!!

I saw those shoes too at the carboot today, (I think we were at the same one sharron ;)) I’m a 5 and they were a 6, I tried (as I always do when shoes are a size too big or small) but I wasn’t to be sadly 🙁

The bag is gorgeous too, you did so well. I’ll be updating my blog soon with today’s carboot bargains 🙂

That cot bumper is adorable!!! So sweet.

Great stuff being snapped up, love those shoes, and that cropped lace top surely will be making a glorious appearance this week.

X xx

Love the shoes!! And the lacey top and the bag, actually just love it all! I definitely plan to get back in to carboot sales when I move back to England. Happy Sunday x

SO many amazing finds. My faves have to be the TKMaxx sign and the denim jacket. Perfect! And the Topshop shoes are a gorgeous colour too.

Those shoes are beautiful, and i’m currently browsing through the Cath Kidson sale, so should hopefully be picking up a few bargains of my own x

Wow, what great finds! I also hit the Cath Kidston sale this weekend, bought a few bits for my friends birthday but I wanted to keep it all for myself 🙁 I absolutely love the print! Love that kinda carnival/circus font. And those shoes, well, they are super yummy too 🙂 Youre a size 8? thats craaazy! They look really comfy, Im loving pastel colours, especially peach at the moment. Glad youve had a good weekend girlie. Im smiling at the prospect of going on hols in 3 days, yippee! xx

I love the Cath Kidston cowboy print, it is so cute x

OMG! I envy your steals! My fave would be Orla Kiely look from Topshop! Carboots here are not so good like in the UK 🙁 I never ever had a good experience with it…

Hmmm I think the Levi’s jacket is so cool too! 😀

I LOVE that Home Sweet Home print! TKMaxx is one of my absolute faves to find hidden treasure like this.
The weekend bag screams adventures! & very very kitsch indeed. Great finds- as always :)x

I was at the same car book as Sharron and Queenie! Sadly I have size 6 feet too so they weren’t for me 🙁 Glad you’ve got a pair though as they’re just so pretty.

Miss N
