Wearing Nude

Posted in Daily Outfits, Fashion.

(I think the title of this post is a bit of an oxymoron. I love oxymorons. My favourite EVER kind-of oxymoron was the name of a lady who worked in my local post office – ‘Candy Stern’.)

Greetings from NYC! I’m coming to you from bed on the Upper West Side at 7.30am, so apologies if this post is slightly rambly. I’m still suffering with jet lag but being back in my favourite city is helping – more on that in another post though, as today we’re talking nude!

I’m rather pale, so I’ve always found nude-coloured clothing quite difficult to pull off. I think the key is in the shade – a slightly pinker tone, like this beautiful Connie jacket sent to me by French Connection, doesn’t drain me of all colour and looks great when paired with dark denims and fierce shoes.

This is my staple outfit for busy days – I love the relaxed fit of the blazer and find myself throwing it on over pretty much everything. Simple yet effective.

Do you wear nude shades or do you find them difficult to pull off?

I am heading to NY on Wednesday! Is it blazer weather? I am literally packing my bag as we speak 🙂

I like the nude jacket, agree it’s all about finding the right nude (or beige as my mother would say!)

Hi Blue Belle, I actually wore this and took these photos before I went (that’s a very boring British wall behind me!) – it’s warm and sunny in NYC right now although the breeze is cool and I’d say you’d need a jacket in the evening. Great weather for walking around the city though! Have an amazing time x

the shoes are amazing! i’m really pale too, so i don’t tend to wear nude. however i like your tip about a slightly pinker tone – maybe i’ll have to give it another try!

You look great! I’m also quite pale so I find it difficult but I’m after a camel toned blazer and a few accessories to ease me in 🙂

Err, wow! How amazing are those shoes?! Gutted I missed out on getting those…

I recently picked up a nude blazer in the Topshop sale, and I’m loving wearing it. It’s more on the cream side with a hint of grey, so it’s perfect for a more sports luxe-style look x

I always shy away from nude shades – like you, I feel they wash me out because of my pale skin tone. Those shoes, though, are AMAZING!

I hope you’re enjoying NYC, a rather good reason to miss out on Bestival! I bought this French Connection blazer the other day, I think the nude colour is perfect for us paler ladies! Looks fantastic with your hair too x

I think the nude pieces look really great on you. Love the shoes too, the little golden spikes make them so much more awesome xoxo

Ah, when you posted your brand alley post I wanted to get those flats but they were sold out. Still, I got two other amazing pairs so all is good.
