Even though I’d never been before, visiting Bath felt very familiar. Like Harrogate, York and Edinburgh, Bath has beautiful architecture, loads of greenery and plenty of cute shops to potter around. Rob and I spent a day exploring – here’s what we saw…
I was offered a free stay at Harington’s Hotel – this pretty independent hotel is right in the centre of Bath, so it’s a perfect base for exploring. Our room was bright and airy with beautiful illustrated wallpaper and a view out onto the cobbled streets of Bath. You can see more in my vlog if you’d like a closer look.
We were met by Harington’s concierge Eve who was super helpful – I generally like to do my research and make my own plans when I visit somewhere new, but it’s always nice to have a local expert and Eve was so friendly, suggesting places to visit and even changing our dinner reservations for a later time. It was a really nice service that was much appreciated by these out-of-towners.
When we were all parked up and settled in our room, we headed out into Bath for a wander.
Basically, Bath is really beautiful. It was a glorious day so Rob and I just strolled about in the sun, gazing up at the buildings and repeatedly saying ‘isn’t it like Harrogate!’ to each other.
There’s lots to do in Bath – the Roman Baths, the Abbey, the Fashion Museum… but to be honest, we just wanted to take it easy. So we opted for a bar crawl instead! We nipped in and out of some lovely places including the Canary Gin Bar which was really gorgeous. Again, more of that in the vlog!
After a bit more wandering and a couple more gins, we headed back to the hotel for our hot tub session! Harington’s have a private courtyard complete with cosy hot tub and seating area – perfect for relaxing in after a day of walking.
We sat in the hot tub until we were suitably prune-like, then headed back to our room to get ready for dinner.
Dinner was at Clayton’s Kitchen and it was amazing. I had scallops to start with followed by steak and chips (I literally always choose steak when it’s on the menu) and an lemon cheesecake for dessert. De-lic-ious.
We rolled home at midnight slightly worse for wear and slept it off ready for breakfast the next day. I love a good hotel breakfast and the buttermilk pancakes at Harington’s were *pinchy fingers emoji*.
After one last look at the scenery, we jumped in the car and drove back up north. Bath, we’ll be back!
Gorgeous photos! I’d love to visit Bath x

How funny! I stayed at Harington’s in the 1980’s when I went to Bath on holiday twice! It’s a lovely hotel or at least it was in when I went!!! Bath is beautiful- did you go to the spa too?x
Oh that is funny! Sounds like it’s been a great place to stay for a long time! We didn’t go to the spa – next time for sure.
It looks really nice when the weather is fine. Majestic I could say.
I do love Bath, such a pretty place to visit!

I find that Bath is a bit disjointed in its lay out but it really is one to visit. xx

Thanks so much, Charlie! We had such a lovely time 🙂
