Banana Warehouse on Piccadilly. I love this place – it’s packed with all manner of weird things, from headless mannequins to a full suit of armour.

The clock on Coney Street

Signs on the National Trust building

Bile Beans on Monkbar

A farm shop on Gillygate

The street I can never remember the name of, aka Cath Kidston street!
I grew up just outside York, and so many of my childhood memories involve this beautiful city. I could just walk around all day, taking pictures and gazing up at the buildings. I’m taking part in something pretty cool at the moment – The Now Project from Samsung Wave II. My challenge is to snap images of ‘now’, one of which will be on display at the Wave gallery showing in March. If you want to take part, you can enter your own photographic version of ‘now’ on the Facebook page too. Here’s one of mine, using the vintage filter on the Wave II…

Where’s your favourite place?
Oh Jen how gorgeous. I’m totally jealous- York is also my favourite city. I’ve yet to take Matt can you believe after 6 years of being together, but really want to take him in the summer for a minibreak.
That market looks amazing, I’m dying to have a snoop around!

Such a great combo of pattern, tone, and textures! Your photography is beautiful and interesting too, thanks for sharing the shots.

Wow these pics are amazing, I can see why you like the place! I love the image with all the pictureframes, I’m always taking random pics in markets these days. Glad you’re surviving well with your 30 pieces too.
I love York too. My best friend used to live seconds away from Monkgate – she now lives in the equally gorgeous but not quite the same Knareborough!
Loving the outfit too!
Wow – you were very close to where I live.
I love York too, so glad I get to spend all my time here.

Looks like you had a lovely day and i love the outfit 🙂

I’ve always wanted to go to York! The closest I’ve ever been is going through it on the train or coach & that’s where my York love affair began. My favourite place is a toss up between Brighton, or St. Ives. They’re both seaside towns which probably says alot, but Brighton is bustling & crammed full of things to do, whereas St. Ives is a small place, quite cosy. Both are full of independent businesses though which adds to the charm!
I’ve just realised that I’ve never actually been to York (at least that I can remember), your photos make it look awesome!
My favourite place is (predictably!) Bristol, its why I moved here 🙂
gorgeous pictures and I adore the outfit, the dress is so pretty and looks great with the navy tights. I’ve never been to York but would really like to go one day, it looks lovely! I’m so biased but my favourite place is London and all the little back streets the tourists don’t know about. You can get lost in a world of dainty shop front, cockney accents and people in funny outfits

Love this outfit and lovely pics. x
The Cath Kidston street is Stonegate! I’m from York, I love it. Betty’s is my happy place! xxx
I love York, it really is such a beautiful city. The warehouse place looks a real treasure trove, I love places like this, full of nostalgia and collectables (and often junk) x
The blue of those tights is just gorgeous.
Haven’t been to York since I was at Uni in ’74. They had this great shop called Droopy & Browns. Oh, Betty’s teashop. Memories…..
Ahh Jorvic Viking Centre is like a rite of passage for a kid growing up in Yorkshire! I haven’t been to York in years but I remember loving it. The Shambles! Awesome!
My favourite place is Shortts Lake in Halifax Nova Scotia. My grandmother lives in a nearby village called Brookfield and my uncle owns a cottage by the lake (that’s a big thing in Canada, cottages by lakes). It’s not a fancy cottage, more of a wooden hut really but it’s full of wonderful memories for me. And when the sun sets on the lake, it is the picture of absolute perfection. When I’m having a bad day, I think of that and it’s my ‘happy place’.
I am very sad to say I have never been to York. This is something I must rectify, if only so I can run around pretending to be a Viking for a bit!
Hi girl! You’ve got two awards from me! I love your blog that’s why you deserved to have those. Congratulations! check them out for rules! Beverly

Adorable outfit! I actually love all the outfits you’ve put together so far for the 30 for 30 challenge! And the pictures you took here are stunning as well.
I love York as well. I grew up not far from there, so a trip to York was normally boring and all about the shopping when I was a child. We always parked round the corner from the Bile Beans sign! I was always hot and feeling sick when we go there.
Fab pictures!
Also one of my fave places! I’m lucky to be just round the road!

Ah I love York but haven’t been for sooooo long. Perhaps a day trip or weekend break should be on my agenda at some point this year.
Did you buy anything from that amazing warehouse shop?
I love York, although I’ve only been once. I’m desperate to go back, especially with it now being so close! xx
I’ve never been to York, looks beautiful though.
Gorgeous pictures – love the look of the rhubarb.
xx
Aaaw I love York too, mainly because so many of my uni friends are from there so I have fond catch-up memories of them. It’s a beautiful city, you’ve really captured the essence of it in these shots too, and you look so happy! 😀 My favourite place… hmmmm. I love the countryside, so a place called Clumber Park will always for me have a special place in my heart jazzy ♥
OO love Historical York, York Minister, The Shambles etc. etc.(quite possibly the best English City:) !
I’m a total ignoramus when it comes to anything north of London, so it’s wonderful to see these pictures. York looks like a really great place, love the Minster… I think I really need to go!
York is awesome! And the places you’ve snapped look brill – I definitely need to pay a visit again soon.xx
