I’ve already written about my love for Birkenstocks, current fashion faves and friend to the awkward of foot. After that post a few people asked me what else I wore my Birkes with, so I thought I’d do a quick guide on how to wear them without looking like you’re off to join a commune and make candles from hemp.
Jeans, Topshop ‘Leighs’ | T-shirt, Topshop | Birkenstocks, c/o Sarenza | Bag, Michael Kors partially c/o Sarenza | Necklace, Whistles | Sunglasses, Orla Kiely
I think the key to successful Birke-styling is keeping it simple. Go for the classics – washed denim, breton stripes and a boxy bag balance the chunky sandals and add a sleeker edge.

Finish things off with a top knot, sunglasses and a slick of red lipstick and no one will ever presume you believe in dreamcatchers and burn incense 24 hours a day. Result!
Have you entered Birkenstock territory yet?
I’ve entered the birkenstock territory with the black ones from Topshop and absolutely love them, some people just don’t get it though haha.

I’m still not quite sure about the Birkenstock trend yet but I think you’ve styled them so well! Just stumbled across your blog and I really like it, new follower 🙂 xxx
Thanks Nikki, and welcome!
I’m sorely tempted to get a pair – I’m fed up of sandals and summer shoes that cut and rub me! Were they comfortable from the beginning?
Hi Louise, they do take a bit of breaking in – mine gave me a blister the first time I wore them but they’re SO comfortable now. Worth persevering!
Love this relaxed style!

I have to admit I have not jumped on the Birkenstock wagon yet. I keep meaning to, but it just didn’t happen yet. I always find a cuter shoe. 😀 😉
