Heart garland, brooches and purse, all by Rebecca at Athene Noctua

A few weeks ago (six today, to be precise), my lovely friend Katie had a little girl called Lottie. Naturally, as soon as I heard she was a pink, I rushed out and bought her a polka dot dress and some fabric headbands – just what every newborn needs to stay stylish.

Browsing my favourite blogs a while later, I saw Rebecca from Athene Noctua had been working on the most adorable heart garland, made with the perfect mix of vintage fabric and Kidston prints. I knew Katie would love it, so I emailed Rebecca and she whipped one up for me within days.

I was so excited when the pink package landed on my desk at work, but I had no idea just how amazing Rebecca’s handiwork would be. These photos don’t do the pieces any justice – I stupidly forgot to turn the garland over and capture the button and appliquΓ© detail on the front! Isn’t it beautiful though? And Rebecca is such a sweetheart for sending these darling brooches and pretty purse along too.

My heart garland was Β£8 with Β£1.50 for P&P which is beyond reasonable for such a beautifully crafted piece. Next on my list is one of Rebecca’s stunning patchwork cushions – so cute.

I’m always excited to find talented crafty folk – buying something so lovingly handmade is much more satisfying than shopping on the high street. If you’d like to snap up one of Rebecca’s creations for yourself, visit her blog and drop her an email.

Have you bought anything handmade recently? Any recommendations for me? And what’s making you smile this Sunday? I’d love to know!

What gorgeous things! & so beautifully packaged..

Are you giving the garland to your friend then, & keeping the brooches & purse for you?
I’m sure your friend will love that – I can just picture something like that hanging in a babys room – adorable πŸ™‚

I’m going to have to go & check out that blog now – although I really really shouldn’t buy anything else at the moment..!

Em x

That is gorgeous, it makes me want a girl! I have some gorgeous hand embroidered baby dresses from when me and my sister were born and if its a girl she will be in them! SO pretty x

Auw, bless! Very crafty indeed! When my dad and his fiance have their little one in august, I really hope to buy them some cute bits and pieces like this. Normally I’d just head to gap or zara for some pressies, but this is much more original! This sunday Im smiling because Im drinking cherryade and being ridiculously lazy πŸ™‚ xx

That garland is gorgeous! Everyone I know that’s given birth recently has had boys though πŸ™ I hope your friend loves it!x

I love the Beatrix Potter cushion, it’s so sweet! So much work goes into patchwork things, too. I’m full of awe for anyone who has that kind of motivation.

I know what you mean! When I received my handmade vividot rings, it was just much more satisfying:)

The heart garland is too precious!

the garland is indeed a really beautiful piece! its so lovely, i get the warm and fuzzy just by looking at it! must check out Rebecca’s stuff!
great post!

This is a really lovely gift (and nice and soft for a baby). Rebecca really is a sewing whizz and I’m amazed at the price, which is more than reasonable!

I haven’t bought anything handmade lately; but I have received a few handmade rings from Lola & George – highly recommended. They are the most stunning things EVER!

Loving that garland; what a gorgeous gift!! πŸ™‚

Oh I love them! Beckie is lovely πŸ™‚ I’ve been learning how to crochet lately and I love it! I’ve made one scarf and I want to start on a blanket. I want to make a lovely blanket for my niece/nephew who is due in august too.

I have just got home from Cornwall & finally have access to the internet properly so just wanted to say thank you for this post and I am so pleased you liked it! I hope to get my shop up and running within the next few weeks! x
