I think every girl dreams of having her own dressing room. And when I say ‘dressing room’ I don’t necessarily mean a perfectly-designed space filled with designer shoes and expensive candles – I mean an extra area to store all those pairs of heels you never wear, coats that are too bulky for your wardrobe and all that other useless faff that comes with being female (like 50 pairs of black tights or the platform trainers you’ve had since the Spice Girls days but can’t bear to throw away).
Since we moved into our house two years ago, the small box room off our bedroom has served as Rob’s office. But because he’s such an awesome person, it’s recently changed ownership and now has the exciting title of ‘Jen’s Dressing Room’.
So as Rob moved his desk and various items of Apple tech downstairs to the spare room, I moved in rails, drawers and Betsy, my new dressmakers’ dummy. Isn’t she beautiful?
It’s not quite finished yet – after a lot of two-ing and frow-ing back and forth to Ikea, we finally have the right size bookcase (note to self – measure space BEFORE lugging two huge, heavy boxes home and up a spiral staircase) so that’s got to go in, and I need to pack up my many, many pairs of shoes…
I’ll be back with another post when everything’s in place and all my storage solutions are working their magic, so enjoy these snippets for now.
Do you have a space for all your stuff?
I really like these pictures! They’re so beautiful 🙂
Great post!

Wahey! This sounds like a great place. I have a tiny walk in cupboard off my bedroom that serves as a home for shoes. Full on sit down dressing room is the dream. Sounds amazers! x
Cor what a guy – giving up this room!
I use my older brother’s room (who has long since flown the nest) as my unofficial dressing room, complete with wardrobe/cupboards and drawers *mwahaha*

Ah this looks great so far, I still live in my childhood room and as you can imagine it’s a bit of a hovel. Hopefully it won’t be like this for long and I’ll be living the dream soon…
I love my dressing room-it’s been in the making for nearly a year now, just can’t seem to get it finished but I’m determined to have it finished this year! It’s so nice to have somewhere to go which is all just full of prettiness 🙂 XX
I’m looking forward to seeing the end result! The box room in our house is my little boudoir and it really does make things so much easier to have my own little space to store all the “girly faff” as you put it!

I wish I had a dressing room! My sister has the bigger room so I just dump everything there. She doesn’t mind!

I’ve just moved and my boyfriend and I have my wardrobe from my old place in the lounge with overflow coats and shoes in- it might look a little out of place but it’s a godsend! No dressing room for me yet, maybe one day! Yours looks great!
Love these pictures, I am getting my own dressing room at some point when I get my act together and sort out the small spare room for it. I cant wait to see more photos of yours 🙂

Bake, Glue and Trend!
Love the sneaky peek into your house. You are so neat and tidy, your house, how u dress. Fabulous.
lovely sneaky peek, I like everything I see so far 😀
This is lovely, I dream of one day having a SATC Carrie style walk in dressing room.
I really love these sneak peek around people’s homes posts
Oh Jen, I’m really jealous! I’m so fed up with coats hanging on the back of every cupboard door and a row of shoes in the hall. Can’t wait to see the finished result. xx
I’d just like space in my own bedroom to put stuff! Haha. Your dressing room looks beautiful, I love the dressmakers dummy! Xo
Absolutely lovely (particularly Betsy). I might have to spend the day reorganising my wardrobe so I can fit a foot in and pretend it’s a dressing room x Becky

You are so lucky, I’d love a dressing room. I love your manikin too, I’ve always wanted one in my room xx

I have recently moved into a new house with my boyfriend and he also let me have the box room as my dressing room, I love it so much, its one of my favourites places in the house 🙂
My room suffices. I have an old steel almirah for my clothes with a full length mirror in the front, and a wooden cupboard for my jackets and coats, and make-up stuff. I always wanted fairy lights in my dream dressing room, so I strung some up on the window pelmet 🙂 And my bed is in the centre so I can lay and look at all my possesions in peace, haha! Pretty amazing huh?
Can’t wait to see how your dressing room turns out, it already looks great in this sneak peek!
BEYOND excited about this. x
Bless Rob moving his office space for your dressing room. I too love the idea of having a dressing space and I hope that when my boyfriend and I buy our first house this year we’ll have space to do this too.

I wish I had a dressing room like this. We actually live in a rented home and we don’t have any dressing room. By the way, this dressing room looks so nice and comfy.
LOve.
Your room looks so simple and nice.
