Knitwear Is For Life, Not Just For Christmas

Posted in Daily Outfits.

If there’s one thing I know – besides every Friends quote ever and all the words to In The End by Linkin Park – it’s knitwear. Knitwear is my fave. Wrap me up in a chunky knit and some cashmere gloves and I’ll get on just fine.

So obviously, when the lovely people at Wool Overs – a site dedicated entirely to knitwear – asked if I’d like to try a few pieces, I was beside myself with happiness quite pleased.

After my giddiness subsided, I picked out three jumpers from the extensive range and waited not-very-patiently for them to arrive. When they did – what a day! I pulled those jumpers from their packaging and rolled around in their knitty loveliness for a while. Well no, I didn’t because that would be weird. What I did do was go home immediately and try them all on.

I love my three picks, but my current fave is this Aran Polo Neck. I’m SO into polo necks at the moment, and this one is perfectly chunky, in a soft dove grey with an oversized fit for excellent slouch.

I’ve become quite obsessed with what clothing is made from – probably a sign of my advanced years. Once you start checking labels, it’s quite shocking how poor quality things are and just how much we’re willing to pay for a polyester/acrylic/nylon mix jumper. I try to buy pure wool where I can so loved the ‘Shop By Fabric’ section on the WoolOvers site, which allows you to filter by ‘British Wool’, ‘Cashmere/Merino’, ‘Cotton/Cashmere’, ‘Silk/Cotton’ and ‘Pure Lambswool’. No acrylic fibres here, ta.

I wore my new love interest with a leather skirt, my favourite throw-over-anything grey coat and The World’s Best Flats Ever Ever (TM). Easy winter dressing for chilly days!

I love knitwear too and I start using them immediately when it gets cold after summer. I’m lucky to live in Finland, where the knitwear season starts in September and ends in April 😀 My granma is a sewer and she has thaught me to always check the label before buying anything and always to avoid acrylic, polyester, nylon etc. I think that’s something worth learning 🙂

I’ve been e baying all my woolens recently as I’m fed up with the dry cleaning bill. The Woolovers site says all their items are machine washable so I think you may have just converted me back to wool!

Can you do a tutorial on your up do? I love the height you’ve managed to get from a pony tail.

Yes, Dolly! Another great thing I forgot to mention in my post. Thanks for picking that up!

The ponytail is just a bit of backcombing on the top section… never done a hair tutorial as I’m genuinely rubbish at styling my hair! Just spray with dry shampoo, backcomb the top and smooth over, shove up in a pony, brush over the sides, secure with bobble then pull some of the top section out, so it sits high. Apply hairspray and you’re done! 🙂

I love your use of ‘ta’ there. Made me chuckle a bit. I always put Ta! at the end of all my emails at work and everyone takes the piss, but it is the best word ever. Proper Yorkshire 🙂

I absolutely love the cashmere/merino polonecks from Woolovers.

The collars sit and fit so comfortably well and look great on their own or layered under another sweater, vest, jacket or coat.
