A couple of weeks ago I wrote a bit about fashion blog photography. Since becoming owners of a DSLR camera Rob and I have been slowly learning how to use it properly, and we’ve been practicing our photo skills whenever we can. Even on lazy Sundays…
Vintage men’s jumper (worn as dress) via car boot sale, Topshop tights, Ara ballet flats c/o Sarenza, Day Birger et Mikkelsen necklace, Zara scarf, Zatchels bag
I don’t usually take outfit shots at the weekend as my outfits mostly consist of jeans, flats and if the weather permits, a woolly jumper. But we wanted to have a go with the new 50mm lens we bought (thanks to everyone who recommended it after my post!) and so I decided to show off my new (old) jumper (dress).
I bought this vintage men’s jumper for £1 at this morning’s car boot sale. No, I haven’t washed it. It smells freshly laundered and to be honest, I couldn’t wait to wrap myself up in it so just threw it on with thick tights and monochrome flats. It’s bright and sunny up north but quite cold too, so an oversized knit was perfect. Not that I’m going anywhere… I plan to see out the day from the sofa, reading the first Game of Thrones book with feverish urgency. I am hooked.
How is Sunday treating you?
Love that jumper, makes a perfect dress.
Great photos, love the one of you laughing.
I’ve been trying to get used to using Andy’s Nikon D80, it’s hard work and we’ve fallen out a few times, but the quality of photos look so much better.

That jumper was MADE for a Sunday afternoon x
A lovely sunday post
Beautiful scarf!
Ooh lovely photos! Loving the hair too 🙂 x
This is definitely a gorgeous sunday afternoon outfit! It’s so interesting to see other bloggers’ routines, especially when they are the opposite of mine – I take all my outfit photos on the weekend!
So true, Harriet! I love getting dressed up during the week but it’s quite nice to have a break from all the posing at the weekend 🙂
I love how the portrait pictures turned out with the lens. I’m seriously considering to buy it but I feel unsure as to the quality cause I’ve read that they break too easily so I don’t know whether I should save up some more and get a better one or just go for the 50mm 1.8 lens….
oh and I love your sunnies!
Hi Chio, we (well, Rob) read loads of reviews before buying and were a bit concerned about the quality too… it does feel a bit plasticky and you can hear it whirring and creaking as it focuses (!), but it’s nothing too concerning and I guess you get what you pay for with these things. It’s less than half the cost of the next lens in this range so for a beginner/someone on a budget, it’s perfect!
Hope that helps you make your decision 🙂 x
i love ur cardi 🙂 x
These photos look gorgeous! All the colors look so soft and pretty. I love how you paired the black and cream into a causal look! It looks amazing!

that scarf is amazing! xx
I adore lazy Sunday! My boyfriend is currently hooked on Game of Thrones too 🙂
Your new old jumper is great! I should have worn one of mine as it is pretty chilly in London too. The sun has finally come out though. Not that it has helped… Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Love the pic of you smiling! Really really want one of those cameras but not sure I’d ever figure it out :s

Manual focus is the best!
I love playing with depth-of-field, especially when accompanied with zoom to make distant objects appear closer…
Happy shooting! 🙂

The 50mm lens is fantastic, you are doing a fab job with it 🙂
Thank you Daisy, although I should probably pass on your compliments to my other half Rob, who seems to take most of the pictures! 😉
You look absolutely lovely- I love the smiley picture! The photos also look amazing xxx

Especially the chanelesque pumps.
Your hair is also looking fab I must say
*reaches for the bleach*
fab photos jen!! have you the camera on auto but just on manual focus? x
Hey hon, these photos were taken in manual mode with the aperture and ISO adjusted to suit the light… the full-length shots were taken with auto focus and the close ups are in manual focus 🙂
I’ve been wanting to see you smile! 😀
Aha! I do smile quite often but have developed what Rob calls ‘the blog face’ (which he hates!) where I never show my teeth… must do proper smiles more! 😉 x
Love the jumper dress, I adore sloppy cosy outfits and I really like the scarf you’ve dressed it up with. More importantly I’ve just this minute put down the first game of thrones and I’m off to bed with the second! Enjoy.
Gorgeous photos! The jumper is awesome, it looks like a purpose designed dress rather than a men’s jumper. Love the scarf too.
Love the jumper, this is such a perfect lazy Sunday outfit. x
Love your scarf!

So cute! You remind me of Drew Barrymore.
I wish I could get my bf to grow a passion for or want to practice photography! We bought matching DSLRs with that intent but no progress 🙁

Gorgeous outfit and I need that stunning scarf!
I love your casual outfit and your hair is looking lovely! I sold my DSLR because I wasn’t getting enough use out of it, got myself a Fujifilm X100 now that I love.

I didn’t recognise you at first, you’re hair looks loads different.
That jumper was a great find. I do love a good bargain.
I’m not a great photographer, some people just have a good eye for it.

Game of Thrones is awesome! One tip though, don’t leave months between finishing book one and starting the second in the series. There are so many characters; it took me forever to figure out who was who again!
Fantastic pictures. I love your laid back look, it looks so cosy!

I love your scarf 🙂
