After a rough couple of weeks, things are finally starting to look up in the Little Bird household. I’m flitting off to London for the weekend to eat cupcakes, drink cocktails and dance wildly with my girlfriends but before I go, I thought I’d show you some of the things that are slowly cheering me up, one by one…

Christmas cards from wonderful blog friends. The pug is from Kelly and the Merry Christmas from Ayden. Thanks girls ♥

Dying my hair… myself! It’ll be the first time I’ve ever attempted to dye my own hair but after hearing such good things about the new John Frieda foam, I’m feeling confident!

Upcoming adventures in London town. My girlfriends and I are taking the train down to catch a show, do some shopping and generally enjoy each others’ company.

Magazines, candles…

…and more candles! The candelabra was a charity shop find and the Christmas print candle is from Ikea.

My new camera. It’s a Canon G11, which was recommended by my lovely Twitter family. After seeing it on the high street for just shy of £500, I bagged this nearly-new model on eBay for £270.

My Christmas tree. It’s the first year the Mr and I have had a real tree – I was determined to make the flat as festive as possible after our disappointment with the new house. I bought the handpainted wooden decorations from eBay – £15 for 15 pieces that originated in India. They are the most stunningly beautiful things I’ve ever seen and I could gaze at my tree for hours just studying their intricate patterns. The straw decorations are from Ikea and I used gold tulle ribbon instead of tinsel.
I’ll be gone for a few days, but The 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway will still be running. Today’s prize is a £50 spa and wellness voucher from Wahanda – go take a look and enter here!
Happy weekend all – tell me, what are your plans?
Those handpainted decorations are beautiful, what a find!

Oh have a lovely, lovely time! I dye my own hair, main thing to remember is part you hair into four sections, like pig-tails but two on top and two on bottom, so you get an even coverage. Also smear vaseline or somthing similar around your hair line and ears so you dont end up dying those too!
Aww thanks Jen, glad you liked the card. Thought you’d enjoy the pug.
Good lucky dying your hair, remember nail varnish remover is great for any bits that get on your skin. And wear a bin bag poncho to avoid mess. 🙂
Have a fab time in London.

I am so glad you are feeling better, after the recent madness that youve had to endure with the house etc. Thank you for the mention and I am glad you liked your card 🙂 haha kel’s is much cooler than mines though! I hope you have a lovely time in london with the girls, and let us know how you get on with the hair dying! Btw, your tree looks so very pretty 🙂 since its our first christmas in our first flat, weve opted for a cheapie fake one to get us started but one day I would love to have a real one like that with more unusual/pretty decorations like yours! lovely jubbly xxx

I hope you’re having an amazing weekend Jen – it sounds like so much fun!
I’m super tempted by the Ikea candles but it’s really not worth driving all the way there just for candles, is it? If it was a little closer perhaps I might.
Love that Ikea candle, and the Christmas decorations are beautiful! Hope you’re having a fantastic, fun weekend in London – what show are you seeing? xx
The festive decorations are absolutely gorgeous and so reasonably priced. New camera, eh?! Very swish indeed. Look forward to some lovely photos xx
I’ve heard good things about that John Freida dye too. Hope you had a good weekend, we trekked down to Winter Wonderland for some mulled cider and pretzels and ended the day with some Christmassy cocktails and Xfactor x
