MADE x UNBOXED In My House

A little while ago, MADE contacted me to ask if I’d like to help them with the launch of their new social network, UNBOXED. I’m a huge MADE fan – half my house is furnished with their gorgeous, mid-century-inspired stuff and I think it’s well-made, reasonably priced and great quality. So, of course, I said yes.

In return for my help, I was given the Yoko Sofa Bed in Saffron Orange and told a photographer would come to my house to take some shots of all my MADE pieces, my husband, my cat and maybe me too. And a few weeks later, a very polite man turned up to do just that.

After running round with a duster like an absolute mad woman and trying to convince our cats to stay inside (only worked with Travis – Lily declined to make an appearance), we were ready for our close-ups. Our photographer took some amazing wide-angle shots of the house – something I can never get the hang of with my own camera – and generally made it look much more stylish than its usual haven’t-done-the-washing-up, bedroom-needs-a-hoover state.

Usually I’d say we don’t need another social network to take up more of our precious time, but I’m a huge fan of MADE x UNBOXED. I am obsessed with beautiful interiors but there’s a level of perfection among the Pinterest crowd that can make me feel inadequate, with my lack of wooden floors and non-vintage furniture.

MADE x UNBOXED is all about real homes – you can search for people who live around you, maybe even on the same street, and see how they’ve styled their space. I think this is SUCH a great idea – I’m that awful person peering into windows on my street, and the one time I was invited into my neighbours’ house my eyes were on stalks. Basically, I’m super nosey and this clever idea from MADE just legitimises that. COOL!

You can check out all the photos from this shoot on my UNBOXED profile. While you’re there, have a little search around the site – pop in your postcode and just scroll. So much inspiration from real people with a house/flat/apartment like you. It really is very good.

What a lovely home! Also love the idea of nosing around other peoples houses, real life ones. We are putting our house on the market soon so even more house obsessed than normal 😉

Love the idea of this. I can see this being especially fascinating if you live on one of those streets where the houses were all built on identical layouts. Fabulous way to get ideas for your own house!
