I love clothes that work hard for their place in my wardrobe. A dress that can go from Ladies Day to the 9.30pm London to Leeds train (stopping at Newark, Doncaster and Wakefield, no less) without so much as a crease is a total winner.
A few people asked me how I’d wear my Ladies Day dress for just a regular (mixed sex) day, so here it is. A striped tee, leather belt and flats. Rocket science, it ain’t.

Just a simple mix of patterns, accessorised with this beautiful ring and an attractive sunburn rash. All in a day’s work!
I wore this outfit to the Matalan AW11 preview last week – it was weird to be convulsing over chunky knits, knee high socks and snoods with the sun beating down and bare legs on show, but that’s fashion for you. I love Matalan. I haven’t been for an age as its quite hard to get too but this new collection looks amazing (as you said its a bit bizarre wanting it now…but I’m sure I’ll change my mind in Autumn)

I can’t think about Autumn, not in this sun. I love that Matalan dress though. I have a similar vintage one – I’ll be hanging on to that.

I went to Matalan at the weekend and was in frock and homeware heaven! They’ve got some gorgeous stuff in, especially in the Be Beau range. I can’t quite face thinking about A/W stuff at the moment but those sneak peeks look exciting.
