Thrift Finds of the Month – May

Posted in Second Hand Shopping.

I’ve had a busy week travelling up and down the country (and visiting another), but on Friday I managed to squeeze in a visit to my favourite charity shop. I don’t think I’ve ever come away from that place empty handed…

Hornsea Pottery coffee and sugar jars, £5

The Second Hand Home Challenge is in full swing and I’m always on the look-out for new (old) things for our house. I love retro kitchenalia so as soon as I spotted these Hornsea Pottery jars I knew they’d be coming home with me. I’m now scouring eBay for a tea version!

Zara floral sun dress, £4

I decided not to buy any more second hand clothes until I’d shifted the two bags waiting to be eBayed, but I just couldn’t leave this beauty behind. There’s always room for another floral dress in my wardrobe!

Have you picked up any bargains this weekend?

I’m searching for some of the orangey brown version of those pots! My mum used to have some when I was little. Really wish I’d got her to keep them now. Typical xx

I found 3 Hornsea orange pots at a car boot the other day. Snapped them up for a £1 each. My Dad been collecting the mugs off ebay for a while now, so he has quite the collection going!
I love the retro pattern so much, just adds something to the kitchen I can’t put my finger on!

Lakota [Faith Hope and Charity Shopping]

I have – a whole tin full of cookie cutters (which I can use) and loads of cake decorating stuff (which I erm, like looking at). For £1.50 – bargain. And a brand new Roxy autumn/winter jacket for a tenner.

Like your Hornsea, my folks still have the salt n pepper pots in brown.

went to the carbot today and found a few lovely bits, one being a camera im desperate to get working. 🙂 xx

I have some of my gran’s old hornsea pottery tea, coffee and sugar pots, they are the whites ones with the brown writing [saying that i think it’s white – it could be green]. Not sure if they’ll get to America will be though, might be risky.

oh those jars are gorgeous! Such a 70’s palette! and can’t wait to see how you wear that dress (: let us know when you’re items are on ebay! i’d shop your closet!

Love the Hornsea cannisters! And big congrats on becoming the new Matalan guest blogger. I’ve already mentally earmarked that chunky knit sweater thanks!

That sundress is gorgeous, such a good price too! We have a whole set of Hornsea pottery just like the coffee pot style but in brown! xoxo

Great finds, you have such an eye for these things. The jars are brilliant. I didn’t go shopping this weekend but i did buy some nice cameo brooches at a carboot last week. Precious. x

I have fallen back in love with UK charity shops of late. In the last week, I have found 2 JAJ pyrex Chelsea dinner plastes for 69p each, a Meakin 70’s serving dish £2.50, a Meakin ‘Eden’ 70’s coffee pot £3 and a pair of red Swedish Hasbeens for £7.99! Just shows there are still some great finds to be had despite the masses of junk 🙂

i LOOOVE the coffee and sugar pots! they are so retro! good find my dear and congrats on the matalan job! 🙂 x

Lola Lovely

Wow I have the entire coffee set and pot for that green Hornsea coffee jar you have! It’s so delightful! 😀

I’ve not picked up anything this weekend but not so long back I got 6 crystal champagne glasses for £4. They are very art deco and very amazing and a total barging. It’s so satisfying when you get a good charity shop finds. I love seeing all the little treasure you managed to seek out.

Nope, haven’t been near the shops! I’m trying quite disgustingly hard not to fritter my money and really, there’s no more room in the house for stuff.

Vintage Vixen

Loving the colour of the Hornsea. It’s always as cheap as chips and so much better than the drab modern tat you see in Ikea.
Bargains? Me? xxx

Excellent thrifting! I absolutely love vintage/retro kitchenware too, jars in particular. Really like your idea of the Second Hand Home Challenge. Definitely something I’ll do when I get a house.
