Spring is all about colour. Seriously – all the magazines say so. But if you don’t want to look like a rainbow’s vomited (violently, in some cases) on you, then coloured tights are your friends.

Wearing bright tights with dark block shades, like black and navy, really intensifies the colour. And if I ever use the phrase ‘intensifies the colour’ again you have permission to slap me.

Are you wearing brights for spring? How do you incorporate them into your wardrobe?

Project Take 10 Challenge 8 – Matalan

Posted in Daily Outfits.

Matalan is fast-becoming a favourite shop of mine, and not just because they were generous enough to sponsor us Take 10 girls. I visited my local store at the weekend and came away with armfuls of goodies that I can’t wait to wear when 30 for 30 is over. Well, not literally armfuls. They did give me a bag.

Challenge number 8 was to style this cute tapestry bag in any which way we chose. Now, before I reveal my outfit (and I’m presuming you haven’t greedily scrolled down already here), I’d like to point out that I didn’t wear these clothes for anything other than the shots, as that would be breaking the 30 for 30 rules and we all know I’m only game for bending them, not actual breakage. So I pranced about in these shiny new things for all of 10 minutes, then duly swapped them for something from my 30 for 30 wardrobe. Being a good girl is really boring, I hope you know that.

Thank you to the ever-lovely people at Matalan for donating the bag and featuring us on their blog and welcome to a brand new Take 10er, Harriet!

What do you think of the looks for challenge 8?

Surprisingly (or not, if your life is even marginally more exciting than mine), this is a 30 for 30 first appearance for my horseshoe-print pussybow blouse. IKR*?!

I really, really loved wearing this outfit. Posting photos of my (often dubious) fashion choices every day sometimes sends me a little crazy (see – yesterday’s leather trousers) in my quest to keep things interesting. Wearing jeans and a cardigan may not be particularly groundbreaking, but it feels damn good. And I wore socks with my sandals, y’know, just to keep things interesting.

What do you wear when you want to feel comfortable and confident, rather than fashionably forward?

The Leather Trousers

I’m moving in T minus three days and I’m surrounded by boxes… only one of them packed. So here’s another mini post for you *half-heartedly wraps teacup in newspaper*

A few words I never thought I’d say – I love leather trousers. Who knew! These skinnies are more Kate Moss than Sandy-from-Grease, and teaming them with the romantic blouse and scalloped-edge vest keeps them on the right side of Hells Angels territory. A little Hells Angels is good but when you hit leather fringing, you know you’ve gone too far.

Do you have any leather staples in your wardrobe?

The Spring Trench

Moving week is in full swing (and my sanity is already on the wane) so I’m keeping posts short and (hopefully) sweet for the next few days.

I’ve retired my beloved ASOS cape and dusted off my cream trench – a sign that spring is most definitely in the air. For a Saturday sloping around the shops I kept it simple with a striped sweater and denim, but I love the way Laura dressed hers up with a pleated skirt and heels. Rolling up the sleeves and tying it at the waist with a plaited leather belt gives this classic piece an instant update.

Which pieces are you pulling out of storage for the warmer weather?
