Thrifted skirt, Gap tee, French Connection necklace, TK Maxx sandals

Yes, I did wear this skirt a mere two weeks ago, but I do love it so. It’s really easy to wear – because it packs such a punch, I like to team it with a simple tee. But anyway. We’re not here to talk about the skirt. The skirt is old news compared to my NECKLACE!

I never go in French Connection, but my sis-in-law to be has more expensive tastes than I, so when shopping with her last week we popped in. And I’m so glad we did. Never have I been so enamoured with metal and plastic. So pretty! I was very impressed with FC’s collection too – next time you’re shopping, go in and have a look-see.

Which high street shops are impressing you right now? Or maybe you’ve been inspired by an independent label? Tell me all!

Decision-making Monday

Thrifted skirt and blouse, Dune shoes, Fossil bag, vintage belt, Me & Zena ring

Okay, okay. I admit. I wore this outfit on Friday. And I made my decision on Saturday. But I can’t resist a little bit of alliteration, so decision-making Monday it is.

My amazing friend Ellie at Pretty Much Penniless recently wrote about her desire to do so many things with her life, and the feeling that she wanted to get started NOW, before life slips away. I can relate to this on so many levels, and it felt very apt to read those words at this particular point.

I’m hoping to make some big changes. To my life, to my career and to my attitude. I know I’ll share them all with you, dear followers, when the time is right. But for now, I’ll set off into unknown territory, as steady on my feet as a newborn Bambi but with just as much enthusiasm.

I hope you’ll wish me luck. And, as always, tell me if you feel the same. Are you making big changes too? Do you wish you could, but feel to scared to jump? We can do it together… I’ll even hold your hand!

Jen

PS – This is one of my favourite outfits. Ever. What do you think?

PPS – I need your Wardrobe Wonderings! Ask me a question and I pick one to answer on the blog next week. Then send your photos working my advice and you’ll be featured in all your glory – just like these gals!

Heart garland, brooches and purse, all by Rebecca at Athene Noctua

A few weeks ago (six today, to be precise), my lovely friend Katie had a little girl called Lottie. Naturally, as soon as I heard she was a pink, I rushed out and bought her a polka dot dress and some fabric headbands – just what every newborn needs to stay stylish.

Browsing my favourite blogs a while later, I saw Rebecca from Athene Noctua had been working on the most adorable heart garland, made with the perfect mix of vintage fabric and Kidston prints. I knew Katie would love it, so I emailed Rebecca and she whipped one up for me within days.

I was so excited when the pink package landed on my desk at work, but I had no idea just how amazing Rebecca’s handiwork would be. These photos don’t do the pieces any justice – I stupidly forgot to turn the garland over and capture the button and appliqué detail on the front! Isn’t it beautiful though? And Rebecca is such a sweetheart for sending these darling brooches and pretty purse along too.

My heart garland was £8 with £1.50 for P&P which is beyond reasonable for such a beautifully crafted piece. Next on my list is one of Rebecca’s stunning patchwork cushions – so cute.

I’m always excited to find talented crafty folk – buying something so lovingly handmade is much more satisfying than shopping on the high street. If you’d like to snap up one of Rebecca’s creations for yourself, visit her blog and drop her an email.

Have you bought anything handmade recently? Any recommendations for me? And what’s making you smile this Sunday? I’d love to know!

Wardrobe Wonderings – the results

Posted in Fashion.

In last week’s Wardrobe Wonderings, one of you lovely lot asked how to get a fierce new look that was different from the everyday, without spending a whole load of cash. I gave it a go with a quirky combo that was a step away from my usual girly get-up. But enough about me – how did you guys do?

Lily at LLYMLRS
I just adore Lily’s H&M leopard print playsuit. Definitely a brave and beautiful look, softened by simple black tights and a flash of red.

Sarah at We Shop Therefore We Are
Doesn’t Sarah look gorgeous in this bold H&M jacket? I love the vibrant red, the textured fabric and those killer shoulders!

Lou at Crafty and Quirky
Lovely Lou is rocking this Parisian look – that dramatic belt makes all the difference!

Chloe at Butterfly Cupcakes and Daffodils
Chloe’s cute and chic outfit might not seem so brave, but as she’s an avid avoider of black, adding black accents to her colourful outfit is a big style step!

Milly at Fashion Laundrette
Milly’s mix and match look is killer – I’m seriously envious of that Topshop striped blazer!

Vicki at Magpie Girl

Vicki is one of my favourite bloggers – just look at her hair! Her Primark playsuit looks fabulous with those knee high socks and cute brogues.

What do you think? Aren’t these lovely ladies just rocking it? Bold, brave and utterly beautiful!

Wardrobe Wonderings is your chance to get involved with A Little Bird – want to take part? You can ask me a style question (I answer them all!) and I’ll choose one to feature on the blog. On every Wardrobe Wonderings post, I’ll ask you guys to send me a photo of you putting the advice into action and I’ll then do a Wardrobe Wonderings – the results post, featuring your photos and links to your lovely blogs. Fab stuff!

ASOS dress, Primark blazer, Gap tee, TK Maxx shoes, River Island tights, thrifted belt, Primark ring

Throw open the curtains, dear followers – it’s officially summer! Is the sunshine burning your retinas yet? Mmmmm, no – none here either.

Although I don’t mind too much, because the grey skies match my fab new blazer. A new summer cover up means I can retire an old favourite for a while – goodbye, blue striped blazer. You served me well.

Have you pushed aside something old and comfortable in favour of the shiny and new? And what do you think of my new hair? I’ve been told I look positively owl-like, which is obviously a huge compliment!

PS – I still need to see your far out fashion for this week’s Wardrobe Wonderings follow up. Send me a photo of you rocking a beautifully brave look and you’ll feature right here. Don’t forget to link me to your blog if you have one!
