My AW10 Wishlist

The things I’d buy if I had bottomless pockets…

Cable knit cardigan, cord floral shorts, pea coat with leopard print collar and leather satchel, Topshop, leather chelsea boots, ASOS

Clover jumpsuit and sequin jacket, French Connection, butterfly print playsuit and scalloped hem shorts, Topshop, feathered clutch and strap detail wedges, ASOS

Autumn is far and away my favourite season. Stomping through crisp, brown leaves in new leather boots, warding off the increasing chills with a cosy new coat and pairing thick black tights with delicate florals – utter heaven. I spent an enjoyable few hours browsing my favourite shops online and picking out my dream wardrobe for the impending season. For me, AW10 is all about soft, muted tones, animal prints, floaty fabrics and chunky knits.

Unfortunately the pockets in my floral tea dress are far from bottomless and moths are often spotted vacating my purse, so I keep my beady eye out for the Discount Coder weekly newsletter arriving in my inbox. It carries lots of lovely codes to keep my online shopping within budget, including discounts for Topshop, Miss Selfridge and Pizza Express (online shopping makes me hungry).

Delightful Miss Daisy from Discount Coder emails me regularly with news of new codes to share with you guys – right now there’s a fab one for Voi Jeans (new jeans are a must-have for autumn). Go have a peep and make sure you sign up so you don’t miss out. Happy shopping!

PS – Yes, I’m a total enabler.

Sunday Smile #18

Posted in Home, Second Hand Shopping.

Dear friends – is it really that time again? Phew, it’s flying past. That first awkward week of my new job is done and dusted, the Mr is finally sorting out the spare room and Leeds Festival is just 6 days away – hooray!

There’s plenty to smile about in the Little Bird household today – take a look!

I love pretty, girly, quirky bits like this oriental fan as home decor. I picked this beauty up at today’s car boot for just 10p.

I saw this print on one of my favourite blogs, Jen Loves Kev and knew I had to have it. It’s by Pearl & Marmalade.

I spied this domed glass jar in my favourite charity shop. For just £1, I bought it to keep cotton wool balls in but think these marshmallows look (and taste) much better!

You know I can’t resist a stripe! This Topshop cardigan was a booty bargain at just £1.

I have a continuing love affair with Moulin Rogue, so when I saw this book of posters for 50p I had to have it. There are 5 in the pack (one must’ve been particularly loved by the seller), including the front cover Moulin Rogue design and the famous Chat Noire print.

A lovely little watch with gold face and leather strap for just £2? Yes please.

And finally, lots of lovely dresses in pretty prints. L-R Zara, Topshop, H&M, Topshop.

I also picked up an adorable floral silk camisole, a cream silk blouse with Peter Pan collar and yet another tea dress. All in all, a fantastically thrifty weekend. Now it’s your turn – tell me, how have you spent your weekend?

ASOS via eBay trousers, H&M tee, Oasis buckled wedge sandals and necklace

If I were to give you a list of shops I very rarely frequent, I think Oasis would top it. My darling S-I-L is a regular but it’s never grabbed me. I lump it in the same category as Warehouse – bland, boring, beige.

However, as I trotted past a few days ago I noticed lots of 75% off signs… well, how could a girl on a budget resist? I picked up these amazing leather buckle wedges for just £15, reduced from £65, along with this darling necklace that I think Vix would love! It was £5 reduced from £16. Two key trends for just £20? Thanks Oasis!

Have you ever changed your mind about a high street shop? What would those shops you usually walk on by have to do to catch your attention? Has a previously dismissed brand become a wardrobe favourite? I’d love to know.

As Inspired By… LLYMLRS

Posted in Daily Outfits.

I’ve been so busy over the last few weeks, I haven’t had a chance to visit my favourite blogs as much as I’d like. So last night, I sat down and prepared to be inspired – and I wasn’t disappointed. With so many lovely outfits to choose from, today’s As Inspired By post was easy! Take a look at my simple, vintage-style outfit, as inspired by LLYMLRS

H&M top and jeans, Primark headscarf and brogues, Zara Taylor necklace, Topshop ring

I love Lily’s paired down style – she always looks so fabulous in muted tones, amazing jewellery and an array of headscarves. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her wear jeans but my top was a little too short for leggings and FAR too short for bare legs – curse you, long limbs!

I’ll definitely be stocking up on these H&M tops – they come in so many autumn-y colours and the soft fabric is perfect for a day of desk-sitting.

Have you visited LLYMLRS? If not, you should! And what do you think of today’s outfit? Spill it, folks.

New Job Dress

Zara dress, New Look wedges, Elsie Belle necklace

Yesterday was my first day at my new job – it went really well! The office is a little quiet as lots of people are on holiday, so I’m looking forward to meeting everyone properly. First days are always a little awkward but I felt pretty comfortable after my induction and I can’t wait to get into my role. It was lovely to have an extra hour in bed and arrive home at 5.50pm rather than 7pm! Bliss!

I wasn’t sure what the dress code for my new place was – could I rock up in my PJ pants, sequins and lippie or some seriously baggy jeans? I bought this simple yet stylish dress from Zara at the weekend – it’s my New Job Dress. A little treat for myself, something classic and cool that I can dress up or dress down. I added chunky wedges and a quirky necklace and felt right at home in the casual, laidback office.

What do you wear for work? Is your office smart, casual or a mix of the two?
