A Little Bird Told Me About… We Love Colors

Posted in Daily Outfits, Fashion.

When it comes to tights, I’m a real magpie. I love them bright, bright and more bright. A jewel colour, smooth finish and high denier equals a hosiery triumph in my book. So when We Love Colors asked if I’d like to review some of their tights, I knew I was in for a treat. They love colours – what more could I ask for?

I chose Nylon/Lycra MicroFiber Solid Color Tights in Amethyst and Solid Color Nylon Socks in Maroon

We Love Colors are based in the US (hence the missing ‘u’!) and sell a HUGE range of tights, leggings and socks in all the colours of the rainbow. They also offer a fantastic plus size range.

It took me an absolute age to choose my two pieces – they really do love colours, and there are so many to choose from! I finally settled on a pair of Solid Color Tights in Amethyst and some Solid Color Socks in Maroon, and I’m delighted with them both. The tights are silky smooth and the colour is so intense – I had so many comments when I wore them for work. The socks are equally soft and are the perfect length for scrunching down around the ankles.

Wearing: Red or Dead mac, Warehouse dress via charity shop, Primark long sleeved tee, brogues and ring, Matalan bag, Nylon/Lycra MicroFiber Solid Color Tights and Solid Color Nylon Socks
On: Wednesday 15th December
For: Visiting the In Laws

I love the colours together, and the simple browns of the mac (which deserves a whole post of its own), brogues and bag ensure the bright colours don’t look overpowering.

I love the range from We Love Colors and really want to purchase more pairs – they do ship to the UK (although the customs charges are a bit off-putting, I must admit) and at around £8 a pair the prices are reasonable too. The quality is definitely worth paying that little bit extra, and the choice of colours is just fantastic. Now I just need to choose!

What do you think of We Love Colors? Do you have a favourite shade, or do you prefer classic colours like black?

Happiness

Posted in Home.

After a rough couple of weeks, things are finally starting to look up in the Little Bird household. I’m flitting off to London for the weekend to eat cupcakes, drink cocktails and dance wildly with my girlfriends but before I go, I thought I’d show you some of the things that are slowly cheering me up, one by one…

Photobucket
Christmas cards from wonderful blog friends. The pug is from Kelly and the Merry Christmas from Ayden. Thanks girls ♥

Dying my hair… myself! It’ll be the first time I’ve ever attempted to dye my own hair but after hearing such good things about the new John Frieda foam, I’m feeling confident!

Upcoming adventures in London town. My girlfriends and I are taking the train down to catch a show, do some shopping and generally enjoy each others’ company.

Magazines, candles…

…and more candles! The candelabra was a charity shop find and the Christmas print candle is from Ikea.

My new camera. It’s a Canon G11, which was recommended by my lovely Twitter family. After seeing it on the high street for just shy of £500, I bagged this nearly-new model on eBay for £270.

My Christmas tree. It’s the first year the Mr and I have had a real tree – I was determined to make the flat as festive as possible after our disappointment with the new house. I bought the handpainted wooden decorations from eBay – £15 for 15 pieces that originated in India. They are the most stunningly beautiful things I’ve ever seen and I could gaze at my tree for hours just studying their intricate patterns. The straw decorations are from Ikea and I used gold tulle ribbon instead of tinsel.

I’ll be gone for a few days, but The 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway will still be running. Today’s prize is a £50 spa and wellness voucher from Wahanda – go take a look and enter here!

Happy weekend all – tell me, what are your plans?

Knits feature heavily in my winter wardrobe. I love how a fine knitted cardigan can make the flimsiest summer dress cold weather-appropriate. Throw a chunky knitted jumper on with jeans and boots and you have the perfect winter-walk-in-the-park attire.

This Gap cardigan was a sale buy last year. I love the mix of brown and grey in the pattern so decided to pick out those colours in the rest of my outfit. I learned colour coordination from the queen – my grandmother, who won’t leave the house without matching her shoes to her handbag and can often be seen sporting a top-to-toe tartan affair. Love her.

What (or who) is keeping you warm today?

I love shopping for new things, but rediscovering old favourites is just as wonderful, and far less painful on the pocket. Cait is the talented lady behind She’s Got a Passion for Fashion, and when she wore this stunning tartan dress I realised there was something similar lurking in the depths of my wardrobe.

Cait’s tartan treat was made by her own fair hand (this girl’s got mad skills!) whereas mine is a high street purchase, and although I spent a good 20 minutes prancing around Office in a similar pair of shoes, I went for simple brogues. Yes I was cold, but I fear my current parka-hat-scarf-gloves combo would ruin my style credentials for life.

Who’s inspiring you today?

I had the.best.time at my favourite charity shop on Saturday. After a few weeks off the thrifting scene, I was delighted to uncover a whole host of second hand goodies on my return. This gorgeous russet red Topshop wool cardigan was just £4, and the sparkly arm candy came in at £8. Not the cheapest of pieces, but definitely among the prettiest.

I wanted to be casual yet cosy for a day grappling with fairy lights and fir trees, so kept my outfit simple. There’s always room for something gold and glamorous though, and this beautiful tassel necklace kindly sent to me by GOGO PHILIP was the perfect finishing touch.
