Not much to say for myself today, friends. I’ve changed the format of my post titles slightly so you can see what I wore when – so when I say I have some serious Monday blues, you won’t be thinking ‘it’s Tuesday girl! Get over it already!’.

If you follow me on Twitter (and if you don’t, you should!) you’ll know that I had a mishap on the roads today, and that’s the crux of my sad face. A tyre blow out on the M1 and subsequent wait for The AA (who were fab by the way – I was back on the road within 15 mins) is not my idea of Monday fun.

I found this quote on one of my very favourite websites, Clients From Hell:

“I hate blogs. Blogs are for angry people who are sitting at their computer with a glass of wine at midnight with nothing better to do. No companies use blogs anymore.”

And as I sit writing this at 11.37pm accompanied by the dregs of a glass and the wrapper from my comfort chocolate, I’m inclined to agree (not about the companies bit, though)! For your sake, dear followers, I hope your Monday was marginally better than mine. Feel free to boast, or lament, in the comments section below.

Here’s to Tuesday! *clink*

My gorgeous Sister in Law to be (also Jenn, but with 2 ns) and me, enjoying a Sainsbury’s picnic and pink champagne

Yesterday was glorious. If there’s anything better than pink champagne and mini sausages eaten under the blazing sun, please do let me know.

The Mr’s parents’ house backs on to a cricket field, so summers are spent in cricket whites, with dogs in tow and frequent cries of ‘howzat!’ (which I still don’t understand the meaning of). After the game yesterday, we travelled back to Leeds and met friends for alfresco dining and a raucous game of Cranium.

Today is a little cooler, which suits me just fine. I’m spending it with my lovely friend and her wee one – there’ll be lots of gossip and a 99 cone, I’m sure. Have you been frolicking in the sun this weekend? Share your stories, tell your tales – you know I love to hear them.

PS – Have you voted for me in TK Maxx’s Frock Me style challenge yet? No?! Off you pop then!

I’ve been a long-time lover of the fabulous elsiebelle, so when I found out they’d had a bit of a nip and tuck over on their website, I couldn’t wait to check it out. And what a treat it is! I adore the vintage styling and sweet tweeters peeping out from all corners.

What’s really rather delicious about this particular makeover is the oh-so generous folk at elsiebelle are offering a whopping 40% off absolutely everything in store until midday Saturday. Hello, new jewels! You’re so pretty! I suggest you nip on over, enter the code HOMESWEETHOME at the checkout and get your grubby mitts on something, stat!

In other news, if you follow me on Twitter you might’ve seen me tweeting about TK Maxx’s Frock Me challenge on Facebook. Every week they put Facebook fashionistas to the test with a style challenge based on a certain theme. This week’s is Americana, and the prize is a trip to NYC! You know I’m all over that! If you could take a few moments to vote for me I’d love you forever and always. You can also upload a photo of yourself rocking the Americana theme and be my competition – go on, I won’t be that angry! 😉

A tailored moment

Between the ages of 11 and 17 I wore nothing but jeans. Jeans are easy. They go with everything, they’re comfortable and when wearing them you’re in the fashion safe zone – you’re neither edgy nor tragic. Your denim-clad behind sits happily on the fence.

When I started uni I branched out into skirts, dresses and shorts, but I always went back to jeans in the end. My faithful friends never let me down. Even now, denim is a wardrobe staple and I build so many of my outfits around a pair of classic blues.

But recently, I’ve had a flirtation with something else. My love affair with tailored trousers feels like more than a fling. Whether fitted, hareem, flared or cropped, I think trousers and I will be firm friends for life. Although jeans will always be my little bit on the side…

Do you wear tailored trousers for everyday outfits, or are they languishing at the back of your wardrobe, waiting for job interviews, jury duty and meetings with your bank manager? Are you surgically attached to your jeans? I’d love to know!

Going grey

Don’t worry, fellow fashionistas – I haven’t found my first grey hair. The title refers to my muted colour palette, which completely sums up my feelings about today.

I often find myself dressing to either suit my mood or improve it. Today I felt like wallowing in my beginning-of-the-week-blues so went for head to toe grey, with a flash of yellow because… well, show me someone who can resist a teeny yellow bow and I’ll show you a fibber.

I think tomorrow I’ll go for something a little more upbeat. As chic as grey is, it just doesn’t make me smile like a punchy pink floral!

Do you dress to suit your mood? Did you spend your teenage years bedecked in black to represent your angst? And tell me – does the teeny yellow bow make you grin from ear to ear too? I’d love to know.
