More S, I hear you cry? Yes indeed! Simply because this dress has been sitting in my wardrobe for weeks, waiting for its debut, and I think it’s exactly WSWW (What Serena Would Wear). Don’t you?

It’s very windy here in Yorkshire today, so for safety and modesty reasons I changed into tights and flats after these photos. Never fear, dear followers!

Yesterday I bought the blogging issue of Company Magazine, which is a must-read for any female blogger. It had the most interesting, inspiring articles about women who have made blogging their business, turning their hobbies into careers and leading the way for others to do the same. It really made me feel PROUD to part of this community of ambitious, forward-thinking girls and guys. My blog started as an outlet for my writing, but it’s become more than that – it’s a huge part of my life and I’ve met some fantastic people because of it.

At the moment, I’m writing another Lazy Girl’s Guide, this time it’s about blogging. I get lots of emails asking me about my blog and how I got it off the ground, so I hope it’ll be useful to anyone just starting out. I also want to share my love of diarising my life – something I’ve been doing since the age of 7. Exciting stuff!

How do you feel about your own blog? Does it fill you with pride, cheer you up or boost your confidence? Do you have any plans to make a career out of it, or is it just for fun? I’d love to know!

Jenny’s has been the hardest style to master. I’m a much larger J than she, and her brand of loose, unstructured fashion is hard for me to pull off. Combine that with her grungy, punk meets indie kid look and the whole thing just screams ‘SO NOT YOU!!!’. So, I don’t think I quite hit the mark, but you get the idea. The red lips were much fun, however.

Today the Mr and I rediscovered the joys of our neighbourhood with a trip to some local attractions. It’s amazing how much there is to see and do on our very own doorstep – who needs the sophistication of Paris or the history of Rome?! Well, we do really, as our ‘sightseeing’ lasted two hours before it started raining and we decided to go to the very unlocal Nando’s for lunch. C’est la vie!

Do you live near a famous landmark, tourist attraction or fun place to visit? And what do you think of today’s look? Totally Little J or just no way? I’d love to know!

I love Vanessa day so much! How fun is this outfit? There’s something about this slinky leopard print dress that just cheers me up and makes me want to go out and dance. I think it’s the perfect representation of Vanessa’s streetwise, urban style. What do you think? Yay or nay? Did I pull off V’s look? And are you looking forward to Little J tomorrow?

In other news, I’m currently enjoying a rather delightful week off work (hence the outdoor photos!) and revelling in the amount of time I have. I’ve got time to do laundry, time to read books, time to cook delicious food and go for drinks on an evening. There’s time for walks, time to shop (although I always find time for that…) and time to call my mum for a chat.

As some of you may know, my Monday to Friday usually includes an 80-mile round commute to work, which leaves me little to no time for the rest of my life. I’m a huge believer in life before work – I work to live, not the other way around. This week has really put things into perspective, and I hope things will be more balanced in the future. Remember that Very Important Day I was telling you about? Well, keep your fingers crossed it all works out!

Do you have time to do the things you love? How do you make time? Any tips? I’d love to know!

Day two of The Gossip Girl Style Challenge and here I am, in bare arms and feet, in March! If I had my way, I’d be wearing a long sleeve and socks. It’s unseasonably warm here today (or is it actually appropriately warm for the season and it’s just been so cold for so long?) and I didn’t even shiver when taking these pictures. High five!

Today’s outfit is based on Serena’s laidback, undone, bohemian-in-Bendels style. I can imagine myself strolling through the streets of Brooklyn with a takeout coffee, or sitting on the steps of Constance in this outfit. Except I live in Yorkshire and actually hate coffee, and have neither the billowing blonde locks nor the lithe, lean body of Serena. Sigh. How do you think I did on day two of the GG Style Challenge? Good? Bad? What would you do differently to capture the cool, casual calm of S? I’d love to know!

While we’re here, I’d like to share my little side project (side to my busy, busy life of blogging, shopping and… erm… reading InStyle…) – pinkplectrum is my delicious jewellery shop, selling one of a kind wares for magpie girls. All readers of A Little Bird get 15% off with the code LITTLEBIRD at the checkout because I’m ever so kind. Go on – treat yourself to something sweet!

xoxo!

Welcome, dear followers, to my latest Style Challenge! Last week I mentioned I had a challenge in the pipeline, and here it is. Five days of fashion based on my favourite Gossip Girls – Blair, Serena, Vanessa and Jenny. Aren’t you excited?!

I’ve only recently started watching Gossip Girl and am officially hooked. You can often find me glued to the sofa, mouth open, eyes glazed, as Blair, Serena et al. parade around on screen in oh-I-love-it outfits, with my favourite city as their backdrop. Goodbye real life, hello living-precariously-through-a-TV-show life.

You may have heard on the fashion grapevine that Miss Selfridge are creating a Gossip Girl collection based on my four favourite characters. I’m so utterly excited about this, but as it’s not yet launched, I’ll have to make do with my own interpretation of GG style until it is.

My first look is based on Blair’s Upper East Side style. Blair is probably the character I relate most to, style-wise… she may be an uber bitch, but that girl knows how to rock a full skirt! Often spotted working the 50s silhouette, Blair favours swishy skirts, neat cardigans and sharp shirts. I love the way she mixes patterns and fabrics, and her floral prints and bright tights are permanent fixtures in my own wardrobe.

So, we’e kicked off with Miss Waldorf – a New York princess with fresh, feminine style and a headband for every occasion. Who’ll take Queen B’s place tomorrow? Well, wouldn’t you like to know?
